3 weeks ago I saw a doctor who referred me to a Breast Consultant. This Wednesday confirmation of a 7cm tumor in my breast and its in my Lymph Nodes...Bloods for kidneys Friday, CT Scan Saturday, MRI Tommorrow (Monday).

I spent last year worrying over a lump in my right breast.. Cancelled Mammogram as the first lockdown happened the same week... Eventually chased missed appointment went for ultrasound both breasts checked. Right breast bioosed and turned out to be intraductal papilloma D3 and had it removed in October.

Now I have this... Results of scans and treatment are on Wednesday this week.

I don't think its sunk in just yet but I now have moments where I'm not crying and being a bit more positive.(I have 3 children youngest 5)

I would like some help with how to prepare for Chemo what I might need

What questions to ask Consultant.

Or if you can offer any advice.

When I know results Wednesday I'm sure I will have more questions too.

Hi. You are anticipating things that may not happen. Chemo is not always given for cancer and you haven't even had your results yet. My cancer doesn't respond well to chemo so yours may be the same. Please try not to get ahead of yourself with what you think may happen.

As the lump is quite large, you will probably need a mastectomy so you need to think whether you will want reconstruction or not. Some NHS Trusts are not doing recon at the same time as mastectomy so you will have to ask that question. You might like to know exactly what sort of cancer it is (er/pr+. her2+ etc). You will be given a treatment plan and also lots of leaflets you can read at your leisure. You should also be given contact numbers for a Breast Care Nurse who will be able to answer questions you think of after your have left the consultation.
