Hi, I'm on week 3 of wearing these awful things night and day for 6 weeks, following wide excision and lymph node removal. I'm now due to have a mastectomy on 31 March. So I will be wearing them for longer... Does anyone know if I can change to footless type compression socks? Would be nice to get the air to my toes as I'm sat in the garden. I know it's not major, but every little plus helps.
Hi
I have had multiple operations and have always been told to only wear them until you are moving around as normal (which I am assuming you are now?) There is also research that it doesn’t make any difference wearing them at all https://www.imperial.nhs.uk/about-us/news/compression-stockings-unnecessary-following-surgery.
I would check with your nurse or hospital if you still need to wear them?

The ward staff told me I had to. Don't usually do as I am told but didn't want DVT on top of cancer. Breast nurse also told me to.
I'm due may 3rd op. Told again. Perhaps different hospitals have different guidelines.
First surgery end Jan. Second surgery 3 weeks ago. Next surgery 31 March
