Hi everyone! I was looking for a bit of advice if anyone has had any experience in this area? I have my last chemo session on Thursday then move onto radiotherapy next week but Oncologist today during phone review said that I should start my Goserelin injections next week. I knew I had this coming in the future but had no idea it would be so soon (gutted not quite escaping regular needle experiences just yet!).
Has anyone had experience with these injections? Is it painful? If so, have you found anything that helped with this? I have read that you can get a numbing cream or the nurse can give you a local anaesthetic? Please help?!!!! I feel like enough of a pin cushion as it took nurses six attempts to get the cannula in for my last chemo .
Many thanks,
Bekky

Thank you for getting back to me Tr06. My body has overreacted to all treatments so far so will see how it goes. Thank you for calming my nerves!

Tr06, Right, I had my first one on Friday there. I read up online and ended up trying out Emla cream. It was amazing!! I didn’t have any dressings though and as my husband had picked it up from the pharmacy for me, due to me shielding I couldn’t get a suitable one so ended up wrapping myself in cling film!!! It did the trick though! I felt a tiny bit of pain when the (massive) needle went in but it was fine! I would recommend to anybody reading this about to have it for the first time to try Emla. The nurse asked me as soon as I walked in the door if I had used it and I said it had after reading about it online. I watched a fab video online (Cancerwithasmile - How to apply Emla for jag implants) really helped me.
Thank you. Xx
Hi Bekki
i have taken zoladex for a year now. Never needed any creams to numb . It’s over in seconds. I’m not a fan of needles so I don’t look . It can sometimes sting but (for me) that’s it. If possible, ask the nurse to pinch a bit fat/skin. It might help .
Good luck with everything x
Thank you Tr06 and 11rolo for getting back to me. I was a bit concerned when I saw the size of the needle! It was fine though. I was so worried about it but after chemo, it was nothing. I have plenty for them to pinch with my mum tum so will ask!! Thank you both. Xxx
