Morning all,
Hope you are as well as can be. The sun is shining in North Wales which helps to motivate us.
I had my last Immunotherapy at the beginning of this month. So now the Oncologist is tweaking my dose of Zoledronic acid, as the first one made me ill for about 5 weeks.
Its now to move on & overcome the side effects, weight gain & tiredness.. How I'm not sure really where to start..
Take care all, xx
Wow. Last treatment. Well that’s good news, but as you say, there’s a new journey ahead. Great that the sun is shining, it’s the same here. It does make you feel better doesn’t it?
there are some links in the Macmillan site which are about rebuilding. Perhaps they will help. But I think, after treatment, we still have to take it a day at a time. Keep improving and building your strength. I am sure you can do it.
ive just finished the last of my chemo and now moving on to radiotherapy. But I also have a plan to rebuild. Some of my leg muscles are so weak they need rebuilding and I gained weight with the steroids. So I have a plan to get through.
you think you get to the end and it’s a new beginning. But we’ve all been through it, I’m sure we can get through this next stage
Hi,
Yes my last treatment, it has been a long haul. My journey started back in November 2019.
The relief to be coming to the end of treatment is slightly taken away by the fear of starting again. If that makes sense.. It is daunting on the days you hurt & have little energy.
The sunshine helps so much, I'm lucky to have a loving partner & my crazy springer spaniel
You are right, we will & can come through this. Its remembering to take each day steadily & be kind to yourself.
I wish you well with your next step.. Take care xx
Hi
If I were you (and be grateful I'm not!) my first step would be organising a celebration with my nearest & dearest as the time is rapidly approaching when you can celebrate properly. I'll be having BIG delayed celebrations myself later in the year up north!
I would also suggest a plan re physical activity, I found this a god-send during and after treatment, it will not only help address the weight gain but will flood you with those lovely endorphins and, I found, reduces the impact of side effects - when I have times where I don't exercise those blummin hormone tablets take their revenge. It will also help with the tiredness too - an all round winner, hopefully you have something that you like doing that you can return to or build upon....or try something new all together.
Also fab to get out and immerse yourself in nature, its also a soooper day here (clear blue sky & chilly) and just got back from a muddy bike ride, so lovely to see the birds, spring bulbs coming out & buds on the trees - who needs recreational drugs eh?
Good luck and congrats on finishing treatment.
Sam
Hi Yorkshire _defector,
Oh my goodness, thank you so much for your reply.. I need to be patient as well.
Lock down has definitely affected me.. I'd have definitely been back at pilates or yoga with instructors who know what they are doing..
I was addicted to Spinning before all of this.
So my plan is to keep walking, getting my balance back. Otherwise if I jumped on any bike I'd be in a ditch or in a heap on the floor
I can not wait to celebrate my last birthday (the big 50) & have massive hugs from my family. I feel like the naughty girl in the corner!
The pink champagne I couldn't drink is waiting.
Thank you, take care of yourself too xx
You have plans already...good to hear. Yep I'm still overdue my 50th...that was when I got my diagnosis which sort of took front & centre stage, I'll be celebrating this July when am back in the Motherland with my nearest & dearest, hope you have equally fab celebrations...we all should!
Good luck with that balance, we don't want any broken bones.
Sam X
