Welcome to the June BC Chemotherapy Discussion.
Looks like summer has finally arrived - All we need now are a few Swifts & Swallows.
This thread is for all of you good folks going through chemotherapy to browse through, ask questions, answer questions and be there for each other in a way only you all know how.
If you want to find this post quickly, you can hit the 'Save In My Favourites' button - See discussion tools box on the right >
If you need any extra tips, our Chemo Tips Page is something you may find very helpful, and if you find a tip which helped you just reply to share with others who are also going through chemo. One top tip, ask about parking at the hospital where you are being treated; for some Cancer patients parking is either free or heavily discounted - So it's worth asking about.
Macmillan produce this Healthy Eating booklet if you have any diet concerns MAC13612_Healthyeating.pdf
If you need to refer back a month here is a link to The May Discussion which will be being locked to replies soon.
Remember, you're never alone, you have us! while going through this tough part of your runaway mine cart ride.
Don't forget all cancer patients are entitled to a 5 Year Prescription Fee Exemption Card from your GP for meds to help with any side effects.
Fingers crossed for minimal side effects and maximum impact, G n' J
Hi , I was told I would definitely lose my hair so the day after chemo I braved the shave for charity over £2500 I raised everyone was so kind...my husband done mine with the clippers on 3. So it is really short. I'm on day 14 and my hair hasn't starting falling out yet
. ( the luck I have now I cut it I wont lose it lol) it was emotional but was advised to do it because I had long hair too and they said it would be painful. I have bought turbans, bandanas and scarves which I wear already.........unfortunately I came out in a rash on my face so I dont look the best. Good job I dont go far at the moment lol....
Morning Dab what a great idea having your head shaved for charity. Well done on raising so much. I wish I’d thought of that but I think I was in denial, it’s been such a whirlwind.
I’m a bit spotty on my face too and in my nose of all places.
Ohh the joys. Take care Mags X
it might be worth ringing your chemo nurses they might give you cream for your spots.. I'm also on antibiotics because mine is really bad, I hope mine clears up soon. Good luck and take care with the rest of your chemo
Re hair loss, mine started falling out day 21. I'd had it cut to chin length but cut it to about 2cm with scissors as it got really sore which I wasn't expecting. Took about 3 days to stop falling out. I never realised eyebrows dont fall out at same time, I was nearly finished with chemo before mine fell out. But head hair started growing back on docetaxel?!?! Think everyone is different. It's a horrible thing to have to deal with so good luck everyone. Xxx
Hi
Re spots- I got spots on face especially around nose when I had docetaxel pertuzumab and herceptin. I put tea tree oil on them and swapped to a face cream with tea tree oil which helped me. I also got terrible spots/boils on my bottom and legs which I needed anticeptic cream fucidin for also needed oral antibiotics for. Starting FEC tomorrow.
Hi,
Had my first dose of FEC today. Finished at 14.00 felt seedy since 16.30 now feeling funny sensations in arms body and face just wondering what others people symptoms are? Had docetaxel previously and that seemed to take a few days before I got any symptoms
Thanks

I hope you are well,
well I got the hubby to shave my hair shorter ready for first chemo tomorrow and I look like Shevalan from Blake 7
live went from a bleach blonde mid length here to a short brunette.
As you will be too young to know who I’m talking about I hope I have added a link.
take care all,
Sandra
Hi , docetaxel takes a few days normally for side effects and EC is a few hours so sounds about right timewise. Normal to feel nausea, headaches, heavy limbs (like crap basically) but always ring your emergency number if you feel concerned not a "normal " side effect or even just a bit of reassurance. Hope you feel better tomorrow x
