Hello
I've had a breast MRI this morning then have a clip fitting next week, then oncology then hopefully finally start chemo after the 17th. Still really struggling to get my head around this all.
Has anyone had a change of diagnosis after a breast MRI ?

Hi jo, thank you, spoken to consultant my area of dcis is small by my nipple I think 12mm, the other are is about 5cm away from the dcis area, I am stage 1 grade 2, its about 1cm at the moment, they are doing an mri to get correct sizing and a better picture. I have large breasts, so they still looking at lumpectomy depending on final sizes of tumour. There is a possibility I may have to have a masectomy but it's been caught early, I am still awaiting my Her . They mentioned therapeutic mammoplasty. You have been a great mode of support for me
Thank you xx
Hi beatthebreast
Can I ask your treatment plan pls, saw my consultant today, advised stage one grade 2, awaiting Her. I have an area of dcis by my nipple which is 12mm, my invasive is 5cm away from the dcis area, and consultant showed me on mammogram, advised its about 1cm, I still cannot feel it so I am having an mri to get a better picture of my breast and sizing. I know mri does show a bigger size, but fingers crossed it is small on digital mammogram. I have large breasts so then they will decide on either lumpectomy or theraptic mammoplasty or masectomy. My scan on my lymph nodes was fine. Any advice appreciated
Many thanks
Sharon xx
Hi Shaz52 apologies I have only just seen this. My MRI showed mine to be on my chest muscle so they wanted to shrink it first with chemo before lumpectomy/mastectomy to get clear margins. Chemo did a good job and they were able to successfully give me a lumpectomy and I had radiotherapy after that.
Mine was ER+/PR+/HER-
They tailor everything to your specific situation and cancer so what they did for me or someone else might not be the best thing for you.
I am out the other side and feeling pretty good again, you can get through this.
Aww thank you, how long from clinic appointment to starting your treatment pls, my referral was sent to plastics yesterday, they are aware I am a breast cancer patient, so I think I will need to be seen to measure me then book surgery. It is moving along xx
Hi Shaz52, everything ran pretty quickly for me and I usually had the next appointment scheduled in before I had finished the one I was in! From seeing my GP to starting chemo it was 7 weeks. In that time I had been to the Breast Cancer clinic (less than a week after GP) which included biopsy, had an MRI, a CT scan, bloods and heart scan and seen the breast surgeon twice and the oncologist once and had a dental check up and 'flu jab! I was pretty impressed at how quick it all was, though going for all the tests and waiting for results seems like it takes forever!
Hi thank you next step for me, hearing from my appointment from plastics team sure I will hear soon, my bcn did say she can chase them up for me but it's only been a couple of days, so will give them to end of next week. Its the waiting in-between isn't it but these appointments will bring my surgery date and thats what I want. xxx
