Hello
I've had a breast MRI this morning then have a clip fitting next week, then oncology then hopefully finally start chemo after the 17th. Still really struggling to get my head around this all.
Has anyone had a change of diagnosis after a breast MRI ?

Thank you you really have been very helpful how long from your clinic appointment to your treatment started pls. This is what I was thinking, mine is grade 2 and have advised lumpectomy or masectomy, rads and meds but advised if lumpectomy would need an mri, my lymph nodes have been scanned and showed was healthy, really would they let me wait for an mri knowing it could be spreading further, I cannot feel the lump so they could not put me at risk could they and let me wait for a further test, is it good mine is oestrogen positive
Thank you xxx
Morning. I had my lumpectomy on 25 th March Two weeks later I had a breast care appointment I was told they had sent away for an onco ex test to see whether I needed chemo. It depends on the score out of a 100. Anything under 25 no chemo mine was 17. I got one his result and then two weeks later I was referred to oncology were I sign d a consent form for radiotherapy 5 days later I went to radiotherapy I had three pen point tattoos. I start 5 days radiotherapy on 7 th June. I will be taking letrozole for five years. If I can help in anyway on this horrible journey please pm me xx jackie
No I couldn’t feel the lump. I had a breast indentation and that’s why I went to the doctors. They couldn’t feel anything in the hospital so I had mammogram ultrasound They then did a biopsy and put a marker in place. When I saw the doctor after these tests I asked him if he thought it was cancer and he said yes. Although I had to wait another two weeks for results. The waiting is awful isn’t it xxx
Shaz52, mine was grade 2 and amost 40mm, hormone positive. Grade 2 means that it is in between grade 1 and grade 3. Waiting for the tests and results does feel endless but you will get the best possible treatment plan from it so worthwhile. Yours is not grade 3 aggressive so they have time. The medical team really do know what they are doing.
Thank you everyone, I will keep you all updated

Hi Shaz52
I think there seem so be more women having MRI’s than when I was diagnosed 5 years ago- I wish I had been offered one as I ended up with three lumpectomy/cavity chest shaves and no clear margins so needed a mastectomy after all of that- a MRI would have given them a better idea of the spread of DCIS in my breast and could have saved me from having either multiple surgeries or a mastectomy.
I know it is really hard waiting for treatment and plans, but one thing I have learnt is that everyone is very different and where it might seem that you have the same diagnosis as someone else , the truth is that everyone’s cancer and journey is unique to them , a crystal ball would be great but unfortunately they don’t exist ! Plans can and do change , not always for bad reasons, but to give you the best possible outcome.
What is it that you are scared off , is it the actual MRI or are you suspicious of why you need it ?
