Sharing my confusion and frustration

I wanted to do microblading, as my brows never really recovered after the chemo, but got told that due to me being on tamoxifen I cannot as it increases the risk of infection by 2 beautician I contacted. To be fair, they were both from the same microblading "academy-school".

On Monday I checked about it with the clinical nurse that performed one of my regular checks and she confirmed that this is an option for me now that the chemo has been finished a while ago (last year) and I have recovered from it. She actually is a medical tattooist herself and, among other cosmetic tattoos, does with brows for people post chemo and was surprised to hear this feedback. I also has recently done my blood test that confirms that my immune system is as fine as any. I also know that some charities also offer this to women after treatment. I checked with a clinical nurse of one charity and she also confirmed the risk is the same as with anybody. A friend of mine is a beautician and does this things as well. She said that I definitely can do this and she volunteers herself supporting cancer patients. Unfortunately she lives pretty far from me and I cannot use her services.

How come there is this contradiction, as the beautician I went to had to check this with their "academy" doctor. The question was in general if I was on any kind of daily medication, to which I answered Yes, and it went from there. It seems like they get it confused with chemotherapy drugs...

Did anyone else had the same experience or can advise anything? I live in Leeds, can somebody maybe recommend a good semi-permanent brow artist here that are OK working with ladies on tamoxifen.

how frustrating!  I had microblading whilst on chemo and have had several top-ups since whilst on tamoxifen. The woman I go to has huge experience of cancer patients. Unfortunately I’m not near Leeds though. I wonder if you could ask your local Look Good Feel Better organisers?  Mine were aware of the woman I use. Good luck.

Hi I recently went to see if I could have Nano blading, a similar thing to Microblading. The beautician also asked if I was on any drugs and I explained about the Tamoxifen from breast cancer over two years ago. She said I would need to get a letter from my GP confirming it was okay to go ahead with the eyebrow treatment whist taking Tamoxifen. So I am going to make an appointment to get this letter which I believe will cost £25.  This was a beautician's

  • As I know, one of the best options for your case is microblading. However, it would be best to be attentive to the salon you choose or the specialist. Some months ago, I tried this procedure because my eyebrows are extremely blonde, and I get tired of doing them daily for 15-20 minutes in the morning. However, I didn't inform myself too well, so the specialist and salon I chose did a terrible job. Now, I am searching for ways to remove microblading at home since I can't trust anyone at the moment.ways to remove microblading at home

  • My mam experienced the same she been living with no brows for 5 year now and I just so happened to mention microblading to her and then googled and found this forum. I told her if she can walk into a tattoo shop and get a regular tattoo without question, I don't understand why she wouldn't be allowed microbladibg. We've tried all options, stamps, temporary tattoos, brow products galore. This is great news and I'm hoping my mam will now enquire about microblading as an option. Xx
