Hello lovely people, and Welcome to the August's Chemotherapy Chat!

This thread is for all of you soldiers, going through chemotherapy to take a look at, ask questions, answer questions and be there for one another in a way only you guys know how.

If you want to find this post quickly, you can hit the 'Save In My Favourites' button.

For all of those of you going through chemotherapy, you are superstars. You are amazing, and you are fighting each and every day, you are my heroes. If you need any extra tips, our Chemo Tips Page is something you may find very helpful, and something that you may find you would like to share with others who are also going through chemo. One top tip, ask about parking at the hospital you are being treated at; for some Cancer patients parking is either free or discounted (big discount!) So it's worth asking about.

To get a sense of how the thread works, here is a link to July's chat which will be being locked from replies soon, but have a read anyway if you'd like to.

Remember, you're never alone, you have us! And, just try to focus on what your chemotherapy is doing. Its hopefully kicking your cancers butt.

I hope you are coping with me doing these! And I hope all of you are doing as well as you can do while going through this tough part of your journies.

Happy August Everyone,

Lots of love, hugs, light and healing to each and every one of you.

    Hi Wave tone1

i made it home after 4 nights and 5’days, they were super cautious.

It was actually really lovely to meet other ladies with different cancers having the same issues. We have definitely joined a unique club!

Thanks for all the good wishes, I will hold them close for a full recovery. Only 2 week until the penultimate session Fingers crossed tone1

  • Hi Ruby,

So pleased to hear that you have finally made it home from hospital.  It is good that they were so cautious, and you know that you were in safe hands.  I had one night in hospital over a week ago due to some flu-like symptoms (and very low temperature readings which turned out be because my ear thermometer had malfunctioned), so I can understand a little of what you have been through.

I hope that you will now be able to rest and recover at home, where it is much easier to relax.  It is great that you are moving through the treatments and that the end is in sight.

    Take care,

    Blackcat xx

  • Hi

Great glad it worked and the cats happier with the intruder .,it was accidental that I saw them was actually looking for a Sonic scrubber so Husband  can clean tiles in bathroom

with out stretching . Amazon being amazon said you looked at wigs before how about these they also had one you could hang up .

Glad you not feeling too bad and managing to catch up on steps I'm on 4000 at the minute so not bad for a trot round shops .

I was back up to 10000 in Cumbria before chemo but I'm quite happy if I get to 5000 at my age .

There is a macmillan group in this area that does walk and chat so going to look at that .

Bet that coffee tasted like nectarCoffee

  • Hi

Just an update on Clarissa she has behaved like a perfect lady all day . No Movement ,no discomfort I am aware of chest area because bra fits but last bra too big caused discomfort .

There was plenty of choice make sure you wear a top that you can see your bust line in.

With regards weight I was completely unaware of any weight until I was taking bra off ,It was a shock when the weight became apparent .

For me there is not a feeling of weight when wearing it . Also I noticed I'm less interested in checking where it is somwin win

Hope your felling good and not too wiped out

Hi all, well what I day I’ve had today!

Get phone call from my daughter in a panic that our grandson might have chicken pox.... (3yr Olson with spots oh joy!)

Took him to drs confirmed chicken pox. I spent time with him Monday n Tuesday so phone Cancer unit and asked their advice as it tells me to in my book. Told to come in and have bloods done to check for chicken pox!

Son took me up at 1pm and we finally got home at 6pm after being told all my bloods were fine and there wasn’t a lot they could of done if I had got it, so why ask me to go up there?

Also while I was there asked them about the tracking on my arm following chemo last week. Again told nothing they could do and speak to my consultant about having a line put in seeing as they also struggled to get blood out of me today!

Think it’s time for snooze n recharge my batteries xx

    Hi to all chemo buddiesWave

I've been very quiet on here lately but have been avidly reading and following you all.  It's reassuring and comforting to be in a group going through the same stuff as you.

Glad to hear that everyone is muddling through and hope everyone is feeling good today.

I'm almost through my 3rd cycle of FEC now but cheating a bit this time and going 4 weeks because next weekend is daughter's hen do weekend and I would have been 5 days post chemo so consultant kindly postponed for a week. Have not done too badly really although had a trip to hospital end of day 7 with high temp. No issues found but antibiotics given. Almost kept me in overnight but finally said I could go home at midnight which was a relief. SEs are minor and manageable and also seem to occur with regularity, ie very little sleep first 3 nights (probably down to steroids), sore mouth (no ulcers just dry and fuzzy feeling) for first week or so, days 9 - 11 everything I eat goes almost straight through without stopping then back to feeling almost normal apart from odd bouts of tiredness, headaches etc.

My funny wig story for you, just been away for a couple of days, staying at daughter's house, oldest son came over for evening as he lives close by, and because he's not seen her house before got the guided tour. After a few minutes I heard a bit of hilarity from our bedroom and knew they had discovered my wig which I'd perched on a handy clothes airer I'd found in our room.

Fingers crossed for an easy end to August for all and see you all in September's chemo thread.

    XOXO

  • Is the Nioxin for after chemo ends?
