Hi Everyone,
Please be gentle with me, this is my first post!
I’m 52 and was diagnosed with the BRCA2 gene in 2007. I decided I wanted to be proactive and had the oophorectomy straight away as I was 40 and was not going to have any more children.
I continued to have yearly mammograms, and then an MRI when it was first available. I must admit to delaying the decision for a double mastectomy through fear and the stupid idea that it would make me less feminine. Anyway, to cut a long story short, my hand was forced by being diagnosed with DCIS. I had the op in April 2011 with tissue expanders later replaced with implants. I had the expanders put back in a year later as the implants just hadn’t worked and I then decided I couldn’t face another op to swap them. I’ve been fine with that descision for the last few years, even though I dislikemy boobs and the shape they were, there were worse things in the world! That was until I went to have my latest nipple tattoo under a new consultant who totally took me aback when she said that she could telI I wasn’t happy when I took my top off and if I could change anything, what would it be? Pretty much straight away I said the shape of both, and broke down into tears. I really under estimated how upset I was and shocked myself! My question to any members who’ve had it, is that she has offered me lipomodelling and what do you think of it? I was under the impression that it would be an ongoing procure when I first had the op but she said I would only need 3 operations to get me to a 36B - I’m not even an A cup currently - so I found this amazing news. My family, friends and partner have all questioned do I really want to do it and have 3 more lots of general anaesthetic and I’m now feeling less than positive. Sorry for the long winded post, but I really would appreciate all honest experience, with no filters! Thanks in advance.
Hi
Im not quite the same as you but I am having a small bit of remodelling via liposuction next week to my reconstruction done by Diep. I didn’t think twice about having it done. When it was offered I just said yes please. They are going to do a nipple reconstruction at the same time. It is amazing what can be done and if it is offered and it will make you feel more you, do it. I’m very apprehensive re the surgery but I know it will be worth it once it’s done. Xxxxxx
Hi,
i had mx plus permanent implant in April this year. It’s left me with a good cleavage but there’s a flat area next to that where the scar joined two previous ones, removing nipple area altogether.
I had my 6 month clinic appointment and asked about lipofilling to improve the shape, I’ve now been put down for an appointment in their ‘reconstruction’ clinic. (Sounds like the building industry!) My argument is that I’ve spare tyre enough to get some fat from, and I don’t want reduction of the other boob as they aren’t huge!
Will see what’s on offer but will be following your thread with interest! (I might be a bit vain at 73 but don’t feel my age, in spite of Letrozole!)
hugs xxx

Hi Moomy,
Thanks for the reply. I have to admit, I would love some shape to return, it’s the angular edges and also where the expanders has moved that distresses me. I think I’m going to bite the bullet and go for it, I was so happy when I came out of the consultation, and I know people were only concerned for my well being that they voiced their opinions but it did put me off. Thanks for the kick up the bum! Why shouldn’t we be vain anyway, we’re not ‘has beens’ And I still feel 16 inside lol! Good luck at the clinic.
lots of hugs back xx
Hi Moresleep,
Thanks for the reply. Could I ask you to let me know how it goes please if you don’t mind? I would love to get some shape back to be more self confident, for me and no one else! I can’t have the fat taken from my tummy as I have had surgery that has left me with a scar which they have to avoid. Taking it from my ‘saddlebags’ will be fine though! Thanks again so much for the reply, and good luck with the op.

Yes, no problem, I will let you know. The op is a week today (next Friday). The plan for me is to take a little off the side and put a tiny bit on the top in the middle to give a more rounded effect. It looks absolutely fine now but the surgeon wants to make it look as perfect as possible. I know what you mean about having surgery but decided to go for it.
Hi,
I had a lipo modelling operation last Friday (so a week today) after a mastectomy and DEIP reconstruction back in March. .I was only in the hospital a day and the surgeon had told me beforehand that it is not a walk in the park but in comparison to the reconstruction should be fairly easy. Well let me tell you it has not - I have been totally shocked at how painful and uncomfortable it has been. I have been floored all week and the bruising is horrendous. I am still very swollen so difficult to tell as yet to the final results and I am told that it could be 3 months or more before I fully see the results. I am back in the compression underwear for a month but having said all that I think I am glad that I have had it done.
Anything that helps us get our new normal close to our old normal is good - is it not ?
Hi NeillieNoo
Im really sorry to hear you are suffering. Did you have nipple reconstruction at the same time? Did you have to stay in overnight? When are you allowed to drive again?? I can definitely understand about the bruising but nobody has mentioned anything about pain or compression garments again. Have you been told not to do certain things as we were told after the Diep?
I really hope you feel a little better soon. Xxxxx
Hi Moresleep,
I opted out of nipple reconstruction as didn t then want to go down the tattoing route and having it re done every couple of years etc and have got quite used to having just one nipple!! No it was just day surgery last Friday then went back on Monday for dressing change as had dog ears at the end of my tummy scar removed as well. Been told to wear compression underwear and support bras 24 hours a day for three weeks at least then another three weeks just in daytime. At my dressing change they said to leave it at least another week before I drove so 10 days in all post op. I am feeling a little better everyday and my bruising is now turning yellow and starting to itch which I am taking as a good sign. Still got a few little dressings on which are due to come off on Monday.
I would not say DONT do it just be prepared becasue it really is not a walk in the park - at least I havent found it so but don t really know what I was expecting.
Hope all goes well for you - keep us posted.
Big hugs
I'm glad you are feeling a little better. I must admit I thought this op was going to be a breeze compared to the first but now at least I'm now a little bit more prepared. I will dig out my post op bras. Thanks for all the info. I will let you know how it goes.XXXXxx
HI
I had my lipo modelling yesterday. A bit was taken off the side of my new boob and some new fat put in to reshape the top. I also had nipple reconstruction. I didn't go into surgery until 4pm but was able to leave hospital at around 8pm. The reshaping on the boob and the nipple reconstruction is quite comfortable but the area around my hips where they harvested the fat is really bruised and sore. I was given morphine after the operation to deal with pain but I'm now just on paracetamol and ibuprofen. I'm feeling a bit washed out today from the anaesthetic but otherwise I'm fine. Back in the compression underwear for all the swelling for 6 weeks and as before it will take a few months to see the final result. I was also told I may need some more lipo-modelling as they don't like to overdo it in one go. But, so far nowhere as bad as I was fearing.
