It seems I'm a patient now!

But not a very patient one!

I've at least got a diagnosis, it's invasive ductal cancer grade 2, but still small, oestrogen receptive but looks as if I might get away with the lymph nodes....and maybe not too much treatment afterwards?

Complex plan, but to begin with, a sentinel node (plus another one or so) removal as day surgery, (a nuclear medicine visit first to get 'the jab' for them to trace) then a gap while that,  plus the HER result come back, then because of my previous surgeries for cysts and the fact one resulted in a massive haematoma, therefore scar tissue, I will have a complete mastectomy with an implant. That will be immediately after Easter.

By finding out as much as possible beforehand, the surgeon hopes to prevent too many operations. Obviously I will then need Tamoxifen or similar, so will appreciate helpful advice about that.

But I'd be interested on anyone's 'take' on her plan. I feel reassured that she took time with me, and the BC nurse afterwards spent a good while too.

  • The workmen have been quick and also considerate to allow me off and back on my drive. Interestingly they seem to be mostly Romanian, the chap who seemed to be the leader, said it was all due to money, they get better pay here. I asked where he came from, telling him daughter was there only last week, he lives about 30 miles from Draculas Castle, which she visited!

They say the tarmac might be done tomorrow (fingers crossed) which would be useful as family are coming Saturday lunchtime and wanting to park on the drive. (A bit of a celebration)

  • Last Tamoxifen tomorrow! And to celebrate yesterday I began eating smaller portions and cutting down on my sweet tooth, plus trying to eat slower. I listened to the Zoe app podcast which suggests this is a GOOD IDEA!  I have always been a fast eater (a big, always hungry brother who was a good tease had something to do with it!)

So hopefully as well as the tamoxifen leaving my system, some of the tummy fat will too? Well here’s hoping!

  • However, glad I got going as I needed to move neighbours van (which gets parked to protect Goldie-van) as I guess the workmen will be here fairly soon to continue the cable laying.

And son popped in with an early Birthday present, (yes it’s today, what a way to celebrate by taking my final Tamoxifen!) bless him. He’s off to teach

  • Lack of oestrogen creates a number of concerns for me.

I hadn’t realised tamoxifen helped bones as well.
Now on Anastrozole and infusions of ZA boosting bone strength, living this!

diagnosis of osteoarthritis due to joint pain eases slightly while on 6 weekly ZA, slightly different I would say being 12 weekly.

age too…. 19 years from first diagnosis however Pray
