It seems I'm a patient now!

But not a very patient one!

I've at least got a diagnosis, it's invasive ductal cancer grade 2, but still small, oestrogen receptive but looks as if I might get away with the lymph nodes....and maybe not too much treatment afterwards?

Complex plan, but to begin with, a sentinel node (plus another one or so) removal as day surgery, (a nuclear medicine visit first to get 'the jab' for them to trace) then a gap while that,  plus the HER result come back, then because of my previous surgeries for cysts and the fact one resulted in a massive haematoma, therefore scar tissue, I will have a complete mastectomy with an implant. That will be immediately after Easter.

By finding out as much as possible beforehand, the surgeon hopes to prevent too many operations. Obviously I will then need Tamoxifen or similar, so will appreciate helpful advice about that.

But I'd be interested on anyone's 'take' on her plan. I feel reassured that she took time with me, and the BC nurse afterwards spent a good while too.

  • Don’t blame you !

Onwards and flatwards (don't do hills) and keep walking if you can!

  • So I just phoned them again and brought the bin in, there’s no point in leaving it out for more doggy poo! I threatened the withholding of council tax…..

Got my tension poles delivered, unfortunately I ordered 2 a bit too short so will have to re-order after the weekend (need to calculate the best day for an Amazon delivery!) the long Dunelm one was a pig to sort, so I tried the 2 medium sized ones to see and develop technique, they went up well, so I adopted a similar way for the long one and it’s up! (Hardly dare to breathe though in case they fall down, haha!)

  • So far so good, all 3 poles are still up….have asked my neighbour if she will look out for the Amazon delivery tomorrow if it comes before I’m home (it’s back to the museum again!)

  • I hope the poles are still up after a further few hours.

I'm quite exhausted caring for hubby with his broken collar bone. He needs help with dressing and undressing; making meals and the only break I get from him seems to be going shopping which isn't really a break! I'm so glad I have some good things happening next week.

  • Oh bless you  , I know too well how exhausting that can be! I hope he improves soon….

Poles are too short, delivered to my neighbour today for me, this time I know I measured right! Have printed off a returns label and will get them to the shop tomorrow. All the other tension poles are securely up and look great, though!

in despair I’m going to go into the haberdashers that I bought all the nets from on Monday and see if they have them, bet they have, it’s such a great shop.

I was quite busy today, kept on the go all day!

  • New windows sound good   I hope your poles remain in place. You’ve been very busy

you’ve got some excellent help booked. I didn’t get to do the Hope course but a friend said it was very beneficial. I did the Moving Forward course which was also good.

“ The only constant thing in life is change “

  • I did the Moving Forward course online so I am glad the HOPE course is in person. Good to know your friend found it helpful.

  • I’m so glad these courses are available, I didn’t get any suggested at all. I heard about the ‘looking good feeling better’ course mentioned on this site and had to ask about it myself, then apply myself. That’s the only help I’ve had. I did get access to a Mac nurse counsellor with my role as daughters cater way back. I’ve told her about hubs’ death but not sure if I’ve said about son.

Fortunately I seem to be coping……I think! But there are times that I just wonder if I really am?

I’ve been trying to keep up the exercise and healthy eating (but evenings are hard!) especially at lunchtimes.

  • I'm really sorry you didn't get offered any help. I think it's a lottery, particularly as I started my treatment in West Yorkshire and there was very little support. Much more here.
