It seems I'm a patient now!

But not a very patient one!

I've at least got a diagnosis, it's invasive ductal cancer grade 2, but still small, oestrogen receptive but looks as if I might get away with the lymph nodes....and maybe not too much treatment afterwards?

Complex plan, but to begin with, a sentinel node (plus another one or so) removal as day surgery, (a nuclear medicine visit first to get 'the jab' for them to trace) then a gap while that,  plus the HER result come back, then because of my previous surgeries for cysts and the fact one resulted in a massive haematoma, therefore scar tissue, I will have a complete mastectomy with an implant. That will be immediately after Easter.

By finding out as much as possible beforehand, the surgeon hopes to prevent too many operations. Obviously I will then need Tamoxifen or similar, so will appreciate helpful advice about that.

But I'd be interested on anyone's 'take' on her plan. I feel reassured that she took time with me, and the BC nurse afterwards spent a good while too.

  • Thanks - I'm assuming the same!

  • Good to know the windows are getting done!

  • They are doing all the finishing touches now, outside and in. I think I will be faced with some decorating….

  • I’ve tidied and cleaned, there’s a bit of a smell so I’m glad to be sleeping downstairs again. They tidies pretty well, to be honest

  • Good to hear everything is going well with the windows.

  • All sorted and the smell is lessening. I’ve made up beds and am moving up again tonight. They left while I was at my hair appointment, locking up securely and posting key through the letterbox, as agreed.

it’s certainly quieter, and I think warmer.

Drama this afternoon, I chipped a pre molar on lunch (raw carrot, I was eating a healthy salad) and was lucky to get a dentist appointment with my own dentist (Denplan) who was very thorough and gentle and got out the small filling already in that tooth, and filled it properly, all sorted.

What a busy couple of weeks, plus I’m having Henry for a long weekend again from 11th February!

  • That was a good long sleep! I needed it, and today is a day of relative rest.

  • Now trying to deal with my net curtains…..I ordered fixings from Amazon for the spring wires, trying on just one window as I suspect they won’t work, the wire already pulled one off. Put up another and used the pinged off one in the centre just to ease weight. Will leave them to (hopefully) adhere better, and try tomorrow. I’d left them for about 3 hours….

ordered a tension rod for the big window downstairs (from Dunelm as Amazon hadn’t got the size) which should be here by the weekend.

Ha, penalties of managing a house on one’s own!

  • I tried the net curtain again, it pinged off 15 minutes later. Amazon now have orders for 4 tension rods!

Dunelm still have the order for the very long one.
