But not a very patient one! 

I've at least got a diagnosis, it's invasive ductal cancer grade 2, but still small, oestrogen receptive but looks as if I might get away with the lymph nodes....and maybe not too much treatment afterwards? 

Complex plan, but to begin with, a sentinel node (plus another one or so) removal as day surgery, (a nuclear medicine visit first to get 'the jab' for them to trace) then a gap while that,  plus the HER result come back, then because of my previous surgeries for cysts and the fact one resulted in a massive haematoma, therefore scar tissue, I will have a complete mastectomy with an implant. That will be immediately after Easter. 

By finding out as much as possible beforehand, the surgeon hopes to prevent too many operations. Obviously I will then need Tamoxifen or similar, so will appreciate helpful advice about that. 

But I'd be interested on anyone's 'take' on her plan. I feel reassured that she took time with me, and the BC nurse afterwards spent a good while too.

  • The pacemaker sounds really a marvellous piece of equipment,and interesting that being fir when he was younger is helping your husband now.Wish schools could be told that as children are so into their iPhones now !!x

  • It’s truly amazing and the tweak she made will keep it going for longer, when you realise how small they are but how clever with the electronics inside it’s mind-boggling! She asked if he kept any record of feeling ‘ a bit funny’ but no, we didn’t, but when she explained how it usually tied in with what had been recorded, we will in future!

    Glad that your Hubby's pacemaker is now set up for the future. I think we sometimes forget how revolutionary some of these electrical gadgets are.My son has a cpap machine to keep him breathing at night- the difference it has made to his life is enormous. He is so grateful for the technology! Hugs  xx

  • That’s great, Kwissy, technology helps so many!

    a quiet afternoon, both of us dropped asleep! Hubs had a fall while we were away, went to sit in wheelchair and forgot he hadn’t put the breaks on. It seems to have stirred up his back and the pain is pretty bad part of the time, but eases right off sometimes. I think he needs to rest but potter but not overdo it. He should probably speak to his GP and in years ago he would have been seen and referred for physio. Now? Hmmmmm. 

    Weather here seems to have improved a little, bit the day of rain that was forecast; I suspect the weather forecasters put a hand out of the window to decide what the weather is doing!

  • It’s rather humid and raining too. At least the garden is saying ‘at last!’ 

    I got a fit of baking and have some blackberry and Apple flapjacks in the oven. An easy (BBC Countryfile) recipe. I’ve tried them before and they are yummy. 

    waiting now for an Amazon delivery of stuff we’ve decided will help with the van!

  • Had a look for your flapjack recipe moomy  but couldn’t find it...do you have a link you could share? Quite fancy making these.

  • Sorry, I copied it out from a Countryfile magazine a good  couple of years back, can type it out for you here though?

    Prepare a tin 20x39x2cm or near, lined and greased; oven at 180
    deg.

    Part 1 Ingredients;

    2 medium cooking apples, peeled cored and chopped

    150g blackberries

    2-3 tbsp sugar to taste

    100 ml water (If the fruit is very juicy you may need less, I did this time)

    cook these gently together for 8-10 minutes till soft.

    Part 2 Ingredients;

    in a food processor, 

    200 g softened butter

    200 g light brown sugar mix together till creamy

    add 200 g SR flour mixed with 1tsp soda bicarbonate and pulse, then add 150g porridge oats and pulse again. It looks a very dry mix at this point.

    Put 2/3 of mix into pan and press firmly and evenly down. Place fruit on top, then crumble rest of mix over the top.

    bake for 25 minutes. 
    its yummy warm, served with ice cream as a pudding! Doesn’t go well in a container as it goes soggy, and to be honest it’s never lasted long here, will be interested to see if it’s ok just in the fridge.

  • No problem, we just had some with a scoop of ice cream for pudding, I seem to remember I tried to put it in a lock and lock for a family event and it went very soft so I’m leaving it in the tray (used baking paper lining it) in the fridge, will see how that goes. The fruit makes it very moist.
