It seems I'm a patient now!

But not a very patient one!

I've at least got a diagnosis, it's invasive ductal cancer grade 2, but still small, oestrogen receptive but looks as if I might get away with the lymph nodes....and maybe not too much treatment afterwards?

Complex plan, but to begin with, a sentinel node (plus another one or so) removal as day surgery, (a nuclear medicine visit first to get 'the jab' for them to trace) then a gap while that,  plus the HER result come back, then because of my previous surgeries for cysts and the fact one resulted in a massive haematoma, therefore scar tissue, I will have a complete mastectomy with an implant. That will be immediately after Easter.

By finding out as much as possible beforehand, the surgeon hopes to prevent too many operations. Obviously I will then need Tamoxifen or similar, so will appreciate helpful advice about that.

But I'd be interested on anyone's 'take' on her plan. I feel reassured that she took time with me, and the BC nurse afterwards spent a good while too.

  • But it was too nice NOT to go for a short walk!

Also cut down all the tomato plants and done a bit of shrub pruning and know it’s time to stop. As I said earlier, yoga tonight!!!

  • Hahaha! It’s not exactly ‘mine’ but I am a Trustee.....and I’m not sure of course which film/programme you saw it on either! If it was Paul Laidlaw on the Antiques Road Trip talking to a lovely chap called John Jackson then I was there too, but wasn’t miked up so had to stay quiet!

    Hi Moomy

I watched that and thought about e mailing you. It was really interesting.

  • Hi Silverberg, I felt very odd staying completely dumb all through it! Not like me at all! And then the producer wanted me to type fluently on Typex? I’m not a typist!!!! But thankfully they superimposed stuff.....it was filmed years back before I was fully trained, I know far more about it all now, and dear John Jackson doesn’t demo any more, but he’s probably one of our finest historians.

Guess that was a part of my 15 minutes of fame!

  • Daughter suddenly texted, they have decided to drive home (from well north of Glasgow to Henley on Thames) as they’ve been jealously watching the lovely weather here and have struggled with all sorts ‘ooop north’ and wanted to make the most of the last few days of sun!

Hope she’s right and it remains sunny for the next couple of days!!!!
