It seems I'm a patient now!

But not a very patient one!

I've at least got a diagnosis, it's invasive ductal cancer grade 2, but still small, oestrogen receptive but looks as if I might get away with the lymph nodes....and maybe not too much treatment afterwards?

Complex plan, but to begin with, a sentinel node (plus another one or so) removal as day surgery, (a nuclear medicine visit first to get 'the jab' for them to trace) then a gap while that,  plus the HER result come back, then because of my previous surgeries for cysts and the fact one resulted in a massive haematoma, therefore scar tissue, I will have a complete mastectomy with an implant. That will be immediately after Easter.

By finding out as much as possible beforehand, the surgeon hopes to prevent too many operations. Obviously I will then need Tamoxifen or similar, so will appreciate helpful advice about that.

But I'd be interested on anyone's 'take' on her plan. I feel reassured that she took time with me, and the BC nurse afterwards spent a good while too.

  • Oddly enough I did manage a walk (my usual happy walk by the lakes and through a copse, back along an old railway) and hubs texted me to ask if I had found shelter, it had poured at home, I was just a mile away and had about half a dozen spots!

So yes, the garden got a watering but I got my walk!

  • Had a FaceTime with daughter last night, she still has a ‘tight’ and sore cough but seems loads better and has gone off for a week of work in Aldburgh/Snape, basically tutoring. I suggested she still does some steam inhaling as it will ease the aches when she coughs, she’s not now bringing up any muck, I suspect by acting fast she may well have prevented a pneumonia (a nasty complication even now, from a donor bone marrow transplant in 2011, partly also due to all her previous chemos)

even though I’ve become a cancer patient myself, hers was by far the more serious illness and has by far the longest after effects! Poor lass!

So glad she's as ok as can be. Must such a worry for you all. And Henry too as he learns to read her, which he will.

Try and relax today and stop worrying for a while hun.

  • Ha! Yes, but.....

She’s still unwell and is pulling out of the job and going home again, running a temp on and off again.....

it may be a job worth £1.3 k but her health comes first!

We've lived with this worry since 2004, suspect it will still continue for a while yet......

  • , sorry your daughter has nit got rid if the infection yet, such a worry. Big hugs xx

Onwards and flatwards (don't do hills) and keep walking if you can!

  • ..It is a big worry for you and her,..I will say a lil prayer for her too xx

  • Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers, everyone. Yes, she was called in again today, a different antibiotic and sent home with cannula in place as it’s hard to cannulate shot veins, thinking they will possibly need to treat her again, maybe with immunoglobulins tomorrow.

Puts any of my concerns into place!

I know it's pointless to say, but try not to worry, it will make you ill and your daughter is in good hands .

Thinking of you and sending love
