But not a very patient one!
I've at least got a diagnosis, it's invasive ductal cancer grade 2, but still small, oestrogen receptive but looks as if I might get away with the lymph nodes....and maybe not too much treatment afterwards?
Complex plan, but to begin with, a sentinel node (plus another one or so) removal as day surgery, (a nuclear medicine visit first to get 'the jab' for them to trace) then a gap while that, plus the HER result come back, then because of my previous surgeries for cysts and the fact one resulted in a massive haematoma, therefore scar tissue, I will have a complete mastectomy with an implant. That will be immediately after Easter.
By finding out as much as possible beforehand, the surgeon hopes to prevent too many operations. Obviously I will then need Tamoxifen or similar, so will appreciate helpful advice about that.
But I'd be interested on anyone's 'take' on her plan. I feel reassured that she took time with me, and the BC nurse afterwards spent a good while too.

Thanks Hadnt thought of BP issues... will try a coffee, then a soak in a perfume free bath for the dressing removal. Then see how things are by lunchtime
What a wise owl you are. Hope your poop is as gentle with you, as you are with others... I am hoping to dodge the chemo train ... seeing my consultant /surgeon a week on Wednesday and hopefully that and the next stage (bilateral Mx with recon) will all be confirmed.

Hi Eddiboy,
Yes I noticed that too, although I generally only have one mug of coffee a day; but we have a bean-to-cup machine so it’s fresh and gorgeous! I found too, if I clench my teeth, (am a bit of a grinder in the night) and the headache worsened it might just be that, paracetamol plus coffee usually sorts it out!
But be warned, Dr Google can be wrong and worry you too!

Well I did phone BCN and she rang back, she’s not overly concerned, it’s a case of wait a few days to see how it goes, but also gently massage towards the sentinel lymph nodes.
Her next question was ‘are you doing too much’?!?!? Well yes, certainly on Saturday.....’ try not to!’, was her next comment!
Just been out for a walk! Hahaha!

Well done moomy for making the call. And take it easy as advised (insert the appropriate emoji here)
So the good news is that the headache appears to have been cured by the cup of lovely coffee. Im going to have another one early afternoon. Note to self, if I have to stay at hotel NHS for my MX is drink the coffee (yuck) or find another caffeine substitute as it was triggered by only a two day break. Dont normally drink that much, but obviously enough. xxx
Really glad coffee has helped, Eddiboy!
Don’t forget tea also has caffeine? I asked for Earl Grey after my nasty experience with NHS ‘coffee’ and it helped! I stuck with that then, they keep a box of tea bags for the more discerning of us, hahaha!

Hi Moomy
I had my mastectomy and implant reconstruction just over a year ago and can honestly say that its only been these last few months when it has properly settled, before that it felt weird and swollen for quite a few months, nothing to worry about for me, apparently it is all the newness and knitting together, but do call your BCN if you are unsure.

Eddiboy...thats interesting,Eddiboy...I never realised caffeine could make so much difference...thought it was the latest fad.
glad your headache has gone.
and moomy....hmmmmmmmmm,I will say no more .!(*looks sideways over pince-nez*)
well I have been to Knit and Natter this morning with my lovely old Night Sister.I love her,she was so kind to me when I was diagnosed and took me to all my first appointments and translated for me(!)and has kept seeing me ever since.More than once she has been a life-saver...but thats another story.what a wonderful thing for a nurse to become a life saver in someones life without realising it...but she is too modest to take praise ....Anyway we had a lovely time. The latest project is knitting baby hats for newborns at the local Hospital.xx
Hi Violetsniff,
I’m sitting down with my feet up at this moment! Loved that bit in brackets, hahaha, bet you don’t wear pince-nez!

I think I’ve said this before, LeoLady, I suspect you are a type of ‘Reactolite’ patient, reacts to this, that and the other?
Take it easy and be gentle to yourself!
