It seems I'm a patient now!

But not a very patient one!

I've at least got a diagnosis, it's invasive ductal cancer grade 2, but still small, oestrogen receptive but looks as if I might get away with the lymph nodes....and maybe not too much treatment afterwards?

Complex plan, but to begin with, a sentinel node (plus another one or so) removal as day surgery, (a nuclear medicine visit first to get 'the jab' for them to trace) then a gap while that,  plus the HER result come back, then because of my previous surgeries for cysts and the fact one resulted in a massive haematoma, therefore scar tissue, I will have a complete mastectomy with an implant. That will be immediately after Easter.

By finding out as much as possible beforehand, the surgeon hopes to prevent too many operations. Obviously I will then need Tamoxifen or similar, so will appreciate helpful advice about that.

But I'd be interested on anyone's 'take' on her plan. I feel reassured that she took time with me, and the BC nurse afterwards spent a good while too.

  • Well, that E-Gym is very clever, I did the machine circuit with a member of staff and I now know I’m younger than I thought I was!!!! Hahaha! But interestingly I also haven’t got excess body fat which (looking at my tummy) I’m surprised at…. The sensor at the start calculates all that for you.

Henry was excited to see me back though, and I was just in good time for parcels which arrived today. A coffee later and I’m ready to face the world again!

Now to think about some lunch and perhaps a nap after that as I had a prednisolone night again. But the cough is definitely better once I clear the morning ‘gunk’

  • And my that massage of the scar area is helping! Well worth the expense….booked for just over another week again.

  • I was really exhausted last night, finished with a WI Christmas party and buffet! Indigestion followed….!

Daughter had got home well before me so Henry-dog was very happy.

Today I meet a personal trainer to help me in my quest to get a bit stronger, and guide me on ways I can do this without a gym membership if needed. Then daughter is playing padel tennis with her while I will probably go to the spa after having watched them for a bit.

So, an easier day, thankfully, as yesterday was so busy.

  • Hi

you’ve been busy in a good way it seems, perhaps the gym, massage & spa will help clear that gunk away. Spa sounds lovely & soothing!

I was hoping to go next week for day spa but will be after Christmas now.

my extracted tooth hole is healing ok & after 10 days my denture fits better and doesn’t give an ache. A relief…

a sunny but chilly day today!

  • Oh that’s progress, let’s hope that’s all the dentistry you need for now.

yes I’m determined to try and halt the advancing years in the best way I can, prevention of falls is one thing I’m aiming at, certainly! So any activity to improve strength and balance has to be good. And the whole idea of today is also showing me stuff I can do on my own as needed, if membership doesn’t continue (it’s only for this month anyway)

  • This morning I really know I’ve worked at upper body! Not bad aches but enough to make me aware!

daughter twisted her ankle badly at padel tennis last evening and tried to continue playing but ended in pain so lots of rest and ice and some ibuprofen last evening, hope it’s better now as today and tomorrow she’s doing some filming for the gym company. So she needs to be able to show activities! Well, I’ve done my best and am going to show her how to bandage in case it’s needed for support. Think I’ve also got some support tubigrip in the first aid cupboard in Goldie-van too, so will check this morning.

  • I found daughter an ankle support in the local pharmacy this morning which she said gave her more confidence, but the ankle was already a lot easier, thankfully.

So around lunchtime she drove off (it was left ankle and she’s got an automatic, so no worries driving!)

Henry-dog has been on his own for a couple of hours and was happy to greet me back again, of course.

  • Got back onto regular Abemaciclib last night and this morning after my dog-walk I had my usual orange juice before porridge (I do a mile after morning coffee, drugs and then home for breakfast) and heaved some up….thanks Abemaciclib!

I’m not normally a sick-y person but that just overcame me.

Otherwise I’m loads better from the chesty cough and peak flow this morning was really good.

    Now to settle a bit

  • Just back from a gym form of Hatha yoga and it isn’t for me; too fast and not enough time to get poses correct and then breathe into them.

    however, each to his own!
I did an e-gym round beforehand too, still aged 65!!!

  • A bit achey this morning although both Henry-dog and I had an amazing nights sleep. My worst ache is sacro -iliac joint (left, always the dodgy one) so specific stretches are needed, and once during the night did help soothe it off to get back to sleep easily.

Now to get going and get that dog walk done. Daughter should be back in time to do the late walk tonight. (She’s working in Guildford tonight, after being away to do some filming for a possible gym advert/publicity)
