Just thinking ladies, as we are all going through much the same journey that we should have a thread on here for crafts. I am sure there are lots of you knitting, crocheting, sewing etc to keep the dreaded side effects at bay and help us cope day to day.
I personally knit and have posted on here some of my knitting. Would be nice to see/hear what other people do. We could share pictures, hints and tips as well
So I will start with a couple of things I have done in the last few days.
This is my slouch hat that I finished on Friday night. Will be wearing it for the first time today!!
This was on the needles saturday night ......
And finished saturday night. A little headband/earwarmer for my granddaughter.
I am now off to have my PICC line inserted ready for 2nd round of chemo tomorrow (!!!!!!):)
Hope to see lots of pics when I come back!!
Have a good day everyone xx
Theres lots of discussion on “Awake”about hand-made poppies...and I thought I would put mine on here...you can make them with lots of different colours and someone suggested I pop them on here...
The chair is amazing Violetsniff. How clever is your friend xxx
A long while ago earlier in this thread someone was talking about Knitted Knockers. I contacted the UK version and received my first knocker this week! This is their website, they don't offer the patterns through them, but I think the basically follow the same as the US site.
I also was sent a heart-shaped pillow from a friend via Jen's Friends. They are sewn by volunteers and stuffed with polypellets (like bean bag filling). They do ask for a donation for postage, but they are really comfy. Take a look at them on Facebook - Facebook/Jensfriendsmastectomypillow
Having had my mastectomy last Monday I can't wait to try out my knocker soon but meanwhile my pillow is so comfy! There really are angels amongst us all. XXX
Hi
I have just read your post with great interest and clicked on the website you posted.
While I think this is a brilliant idea I was surprised it takes 28 days to receive one. They can be knitteed in a few hours. I know because I knitted loads and donated them to my chemo unit for anyone who had experienced a masectomy.
I will say if you want any I would gladly knit some for you. Mine are all knitted in cotton or bamboo as it is breathable and filled with BS standard toy filling, Some knitters use acrylic as it is easier to wash.
I am alway knitting so I would be delighted if you or anyone else on here would like any I would gladly knit them and post off to you.

I think they only say 28 days Taralou because of covering themselves and with postage etc. I certainly only waited 7 days for mine to arrive.
Thought it was nice that they offer Aqua knockers for people who want to swim too.
I'm about to find my needles and have a go at a couple myself. I got a couple of balls of cotton yarn left from a cardigan I knitted, so will give them a try first. They certainly seem lighter than the softie which my BC nurse gave me before my op.
I'm a great fan of knitted knockers and use them all the time. I've made several in both acrylic and cotton and overall I think I prefer the acrylic. I used 8 ply/DK cotton for my aqua knocker and frankly it takes far too long to dry. It's not pleasant putting your swimmers on with a soggy boob inside! I've had some for over 2 years now and am finding that the filling is going lumpy (the fibrefill) and hard and bumpy (the shower scrunchie). Still, I didn't sew in the end so they're easy to refill. I'd suggest just tucking the end inside the knocker so you can open the hole up if necessary.
