Well. Welcome to this thread.

You may be surprised why it is here or happy it is here. Then again: ‘You have got to be joking! Do you know what is wrong with me?’ may be your response.

This all began on the Extreme Fatigue thread. On there several people wanted and needed inspiration/incentive to get out and walk. Many people see the benefits of it in their life and to help on this; mad journey, train ride, rollercoaster ride and other positively rude words journey called Breast Cancer.

It is not a thread created to make anyone feel less than they do at present. It is not a thread that will set people against one another. Being competitive with yourself or a simple challenge to yourself is the point, but not a race against others is a key premis.

The idea is that you can do any of these or none:

  1. Post when you have walked.
  2. Post how many minutes you walked for.
  3. Post how you felt before, during or after. Or not at all.
  4. Post pictures from your walk, but ones that do not point to where you live.
  5. Post inspirational quotes, thoughts or comments.
  6. A simple like of people’s efforts is fine. No need to write an essay unless you feel the need.
  7. On a safety note. Do tell friends, family or the thread when you leave and return safely. Be aware of your personal safety at all times.

Well here goes.

Either it will grow and blossom, with lots of lovely people benefiting. Or I will have egg all over my face – not for the first time in my chequered life and career.

Leolady – may be adding in the odd gallop to my walks.

PS if you don't like us don't be cruel.

  • Hi  and welcome to my favourite thread! Walking has become my sanity saver. Haven’t been posting regularly recently as am abroad but home soon so photos will be of British countryside. Where are you going in Scotland? I’m from StAndrews on east coast but lived in and near London for past 40 years plus.
    your travels are amazing!
Hi , good to see you here again! I think that you and  will like this cute little Canadian squirrel from a hike in a National park north of Quebec. Then our cabin in Vermont, so peaceful. All going well, this will be my last post from Canada as we’re due to fly home tonight. Love to all, HFxx

  • Do make sure you thoroughly wash those berries Happyfeet1 won't you, just in case the farmer has used insectiside on any surrounding fields! I remember being warned about this as a child by a friend's father when we all went out for a Sunday walk and my friend went to pick some of the berries in the hedge. He knew the fields had been sprayed with Paraquat.

  • Sorry I haven't been on here for a while and my posts have been somewhat negative of late. I must admit I often want to share something amusing with you but ever since admin told me off and said we weren't allowed to share jokes as some people understandably are not in a happy place, I have backed away a bit from the forum. It is sad as we all need to find some light in the dark times.

  • Hi , thanks for the washing tip, I did soak them in the bowl filled with water and rinsed several times. Hadn’t thought of the spray, must admit I ate a few whilst gathering, straight from the bushes. Thankfully there’s not a cultivated field near but you still never know.
Sorry to hear you’ve been put off posting here, please stay with us! I agree that we need light hearted stuff as well as the serious, I love this thread as it’s mainly about getting out and about in whatever form. And I haven’t found your posts negative although that’s surely allowed too! We need the chance to rant, rave and vent when needed, as well as discussions about anything from cancer to favourite flowers!
    Love and hugs, HFxx

  • Thanks Happyfeet1. I haven't had a chance to go walking anywhere inyeresting since my lovely day with Tired Minion at Arley but I have been doing a bit of gardening - pruning the various buddhleia and dahlia pots. Next door's Wisteria has set up residence across the back wall of my house and is on its second round of flowering this year, which is beautiful. I do need to trim it back though as half the window is now covered and the back room is a bit dark for the degus.
