Well. Welcome to this thread.
You may be surprised why it is here or happy it is here. Then again: ‘You have got to be joking! Do you know what is wrong with me?’ may be your response.
This all began on the Extreme Fatigue thread. On there several people wanted and needed inspiration/incentive to get out and walk. Many people see the benefits of it in their life and to help on this; mad journey, train ride, rollercoaster ride and other positively rude words journey called Breast Cancer.
It is not a thread created to make anyone feel less than they do at present. It is not a thread that will set people against one another. Being competitive with yourself or a simple challenge to yourself is the point, but not a race against others is a key premis.
The idea is that you can do any of these or none:
Well here goes.
Either it will grow and blossom, with lots of lovely people benefiting. Or I will have egg all over my face – not for the first time in my chequered life and career.
Leolady – may be adding in the odd gallop to my walks.
PS if you don't like us don't be cruel.
Northerner, sorry to hear the show was cancelled. Especially after you had made a picnic lunch. Love the photo of the cows crossing. Bit different from a suburban zebra crossing!
I popped to the park near us this morning as tbere was a car boot sale and I love a car boot sale. I bought wo hydrangeas (would have bought more but I couldn't carry them) and some cuddlies for my grandchildren. My grandson absutely loves Super Mario and I found both a Mario and Luigi soft toys for 50pence each.
I can't share my pictures of Little Moreton Hall yesterday as I forgot to take any. I was also rather saddened to see how badly the black of the wood on tbis incredible Tudoir building has faded over the 20 years I have been visiting. I spoke with one of the guides who said that they have discovered Tudor buildings were not originally black and white. It was the victorians who painted the wood black and the plasterwork/stone in between white. This explains Shakespeare's Stratford to me but I didn't know this. I always think of black and white when you hear the words 'Tudor building'. We also learnt that it wasn't true at all that people in Tudor times washed infrequently. Apparently they were most fastidious about it. It was fascinating. One of my all time favourite places to visit.
We had supper round at my daughter's yesterday which was lovely. I played the board game Race to the Base with my grandson and husband. He kindky told me that as I had eventually got back to base I was third rather than last! So cute.
Quite Right Northerner!!…well done !!
it is the Tower of London!
Apparently at one time they kept a menagerie of animals given to them by foreign heads of state.….sorry the weather hasn’t been kind for you,Northerner.
talking of not eating from catering vans,we were a bit stuck at the Tower for somewhere “nice”to eat. However, all along the outer path were all sorts of catering vans from all places in the world. It did add to the experience by the delicious smells which were diverse and being enjoyed, but we decided to eat from the Raven cafe, just inside.
lit was ok…but no sandwiches,,.so we had to have an enormous panini about 3 ft long!(slight exaggeration)
so I shared one,and I admit it did fill a hole, which lasted all afternoon.I nearly got marched into a pulp at one point as I had found a handy Beefeater and was just asking him a little question when he asked me to move as two Guards were on the March!Apparently if I hadn’t have moved they would have just marched over me !Bit scarey.Mother used to say I always went around with my eyes closed!
we had a great day though and walked with my stick eventually and sat for the rest of the time.We saw the Tower In Bloom….pretty and colourful xx
Glad you had a great day it’s nice to here you are going out and about more now .
I’ve never been to the Tower mainly because I’ve only ever been to London for work so would get off train at Kings cross then walk to Euston H/O . I prefer country to cities as they remind me of work
Glad you didn’t get trampled Violetsniff!! Great photos and love your traffic/ cows Northerner
Lovely walk with friend on our favourite nature reserve and surrounding countryside. Saw lots more butterflies and dragonflies. Trees were the focus though, just love them…..
Northener

Jayhay....we are home again now from our holiday. Yesterday I walked early before we left on part of the santiago de compostela trail. It was ok going down but very hard work coming back up to our gite! I also got soaked as there was a storm. Then as I got home for breakfast.....there was a rainbow.
Although we don't live where you thought, we do still live in a rural area.We came home to the sunflowers which weren't open when we left.
