Well. Welcome to this thread.

You may be surprised why it is here or happy it is here. Then again: ‘You have got to be joking! Do you know what is wrong with me?’ may be your response.

This all began on the Extreme Fatigue thread. On there several people wanted and needed inspiration/incentive to get out and walk. Many people see the benefits of it in their life and to help on this; mad journey, train ride, rollercoaster ride and other positively rude words journey called Breast Cancer.

It is not a thread created to make anyone feel less than they do at present. It is not a thread that will set people against one another. Being competitive with yourself or a simple challenge to yourself is the point, but not a race against others is a key premis.

The idea is that you can do any of these or none:

  1. Post when you have walked.
  2. Post how many minutes you walked for.
  3. Post how you felt before, during or after. Or not at all.
  4. Post pictures from your walk, but ones that do not point to where you live.
  5. Post inspirational quotes, thoughts or comments.
  6. A simple like of people’s efforts is fine. No need to write an essay unless you feel the need.
  7. On a safety note. Do tell friends, family or the thread when you leave and return safely. Be aware of your personal safety at all times.

Well here goes.

Either it will grow and blossom, with lots of lovely people benefiting. Or I will have egg all over my face – not for the first time in my chequered life and career.

Leolady – may be adding in the odd gallop to my walks.

PS if you don't like us don't be cruel.

  • Ooo !was searching a zoomed in photo for your heron and realised it was the wrong ohoto! ( well I did see a spec, but I think that was from the bread I made earlier)

thankyou...also,what an unusual tree!! I wish I could see a heronI saw one from a river boat in nearby once, but I thought he must be a dummy plastic one he was so still!!
and ...I think you should make a mask...but I didn’t have the oomph either, so I asked my sister( in a little voice) and she made me one!
I would warn you , though, that if the cotton is too thick it makes it almost  impossible to breathe! And you end up mouth breathing which is worse than not wearing a mask and breathing through your nose , which is a natural filter for germs etc.but not 100%

I have read it is best to use pillow case material or duvet cover material or even t-shirts.yes the thinness means it won’t be as safe... but it will afford you a degree if safety...with a good filter.it has to be cleaned and filter after each use and don’t be tempted to touch it while it is on!
sorry...I bet you knew all of that but just in case someone else is reading ,who doesnt...

made a sort of loaf today which was a complete failure so I turned around determinedly made  another and it worked!
Had no idea I was so stubborn!!

(many times thinking...It would be SO much easier to pop out and buy one....)

started reading all about Elvis’s family background..got so into it that I forgot to go out!! Quelle domage!!

still, I have a brilliant book and a loaf of bread for my labours today!!
But I will try and add a photo from one of my walks...hang on...

this is my favourite garden on one of the roads behind me.It has beautiful flowers xx

  • Good morning......

Is mine the first walk for today. A glorious sun rise I came early before the heat. It's uphill on the way out but luckily a seat at the top. I am amazed at how the crops have grown in a week.( We have been doing a different loop since the deconfinément because it was longer than we were allowed during)

Photos show the blue sky and general vista plus crop growth.

    Now for the return leg!

    Hope my leg makes it!

  • Morning all, lovely photos everything is so green at the moment. Well done re the bread , funnily enough I made a loaf too yesterday for the first time! It’s made with bicarbonate of soda as I haven’t been able to get any yeast, in shops or online. Maybe we were baking at the same time! I’ll try to post a photo..... I have to say it’s very dense and seems to weigh a ton, but tastes delicious. Had toast for breakfast in bed today. Hopefully some walking photos later... Happy Sunday to all, HFxx

  • Ooh that looks delicious! Does your recipe have buttermilk in it? Mine doesn’t, just bicarb, but yours has risen more. Friend sent me a recipe yesterday evening which uses soya milk and lemon juice to make it dairy free and I might try it with oat milk as I use that more than soya. Found it surprisingly straightforward and am delighted with the results! But definitely wouldn’t be winning any prizes....

  • So sorry but I’m going to make you all jealous now, I have yeast and strong flour, courtesy of our Sugarsmiths shop who, bless her, could see this coming and did bulk orders, spent ages weighing out and bagging up sensible amounts and because she knew I was self isolating, delivers to me once she’s shut the shop.

So my loaf this morning was one cooked in my bread machine overnight (I’ve had a bread machine since they first arrived in the UK, probably a good 25 years ago!) this one is the third and is great!
needless to say the ‘small’ setting has loaded it in its side!

  • And just to add, I’ve done 10 minutes each of yoga and marching on the spot so far today!

  • Fab loaf ! I got flour online (wholemeal and plain, plus some oat flour for fun) but yeast is the gold dust at the moment! A friend on a group chat has offered some that she had in her cupboard so can arrange to meet her for that under new rules, phew. I found some myself at the back of a cupboard but it expired in 2015 so I think I’d just waste my flour. As for bread making machines, all out of stock! But now I’ve made one loaf by hand I’m happy to keep trying, enjoyed it in the end after putting it off for days. I find the kneading quite therapeutic! Not that the soda bread needed much, yeast more so from what I remember. Could practise mindfulness whilst kneading I suspect...

And you’re way ahead of me on the exercise today, I’m not even dressed! Time to get into gear I think. Love to all. HFxx
