Well. Welcome to this thread.

You may be surprised why it is here or happy it is here. Then again: ‘You have got to be joking! Do you know what is wrong with me?’ may be your response.

This all began on the Extreme Fatigue thread. On there several people wanted and needed inspiration/incentive to get out and walk. Many people see the benefits of it in their life and to help on this; mad journey, train ride, rollercoaster ride and other positively rude words journey called Breast Cancer.

It is not a thread created to make anyone feel less than they do at present. It is not a thread that will set people against one another. Being competitive with yourself or a simple challenge to yourself is the point, but not a race against others is a key premis.

The idea is that you can do any of these or none:

  1. Post when you have walked.
  2. Post how many minutes you walked for.
  3. Post how you felt before, during or after. Or not at all.
  4. Post pictures from your walk, but ones that do not point to where you live.
  5. Post inspirational quotes, thoughts or comments.
  6. A simple like of people’s efforts is fine. No need to write an essay unless you feel the need.
  7. On a safety note. Do tell friends, family or the thread when you leave and return safely. Be aware of your personal safety at all times.

Well here goes.

Either it will grow and blossom, with lots of lovely people benefiting. Or I will have egg all over my face – not for the first time in my chequered life and career.

Leolady – may be adding in the odd gallop to my walks.

PS if you don't like us don't be cruel.

  • Morning all, great photos, and welcome to the thread , it’s my favourite thread as walking has become my new passion/ obsession.... always enjoyed it but definitely on a new level since cancer op last October. Very impressed with your running, like I was a sprinter in my long ago youth but don’t run now. Just love walking.

Sunday managed 2 walks, very squelchy dog walk then lovely country walk to local garden centre (obligatory tea and scone - I always think of you when having a therapeutic scone, wish I could spirit you to the cafe). Work yesterday so no walk, swimming today (ugh) but hopefully fit in later walk too. Love the bare trees and remaining autumn colours....

    Love to all, HFxx

  • Lovely photos!
I too always liked walking, you see far more than if on a bike, certainly than if a passenger in a car. But like you  I’ve increased the amount I choose to walk since my op and love it though not this present soggy mess of weather! Walking today will be with a brolly I fear, to our local shops as there are a few things I need, last bit of hubs’ prescription plus some stamps and pay the tv licence.....it never ends!
    And it’s yoga this evening!

Went out for the first time on my own since my operation 10 days ago only popped to the chemist it’s on half a mile away took me 23 minutes to get there boy that was hard work had to get hubby to pick me up didn’t realise how tired would be

but it’s a start I need to get fitter before I start chemotherapy on the 13th December xx

  • Owww , there was you trying to distract me with the drinks.....

Welcome  - I'm another 'walker' if and when I can.... loved running at school and then left and that was it. I too would be lucky to walk half a marathon, never mind a whole one, now on the other hand if it was the chocolate type, well I could manage all of that, haha.

Right, Come on Notherner, no one will notice us with our hats and sun glasses on....

Owww quick, who's that looking, I reckon it's  - with the poles.

Owww that's it, people are looking.... hang on, hold breath, pull tummy in and over we go...

I'll just stay here for a little while pretending to be a melon or something round.

Sending love to everyone - Night Night xxx

I'm hoping this makes sense - only my mind says one thing and my fingers type whatever they like x
  • .....I hope you've been to bed. Great excuse for not walking here today.....orange weather alert for wind and rain but 7 ° above seasonal average. Global warming......? How did we let this happen?

Either have a good sleep or a nice day....

    Love Karen

  • Another grey damp day......I think I will be walking round shops! We certainly plan a Costco trip and then the shopping centre.....

Yoga last night was tough on the old arms, but has to be building a bit of strength and bond strength too!
