Well. Welcome to this thread.

You may be surprised why it is here or happy it is here. Then again: ‘You have got to be joking! Do you know what is wrong with me?’ may be your response.

This all began on the Extreme Fatigue thread. On there several people wanted and needed inspiration/incentive to get out and walk. Many people see the benefits of it in their life and to help on this; mad journey, train ride, rollercoaster ride and other positively rude words journey called Breast Cancer.

It is not a thread created to make anyone feel less than they do at present. It is not a thread that will set people against one another. Being competitive with yourself or a simple challenge to yourself is the point, but not a race against others is a key premis.

The idea is that you can do any of these or none:

  1. Post when you have walked.
  2. Post how many minutes you walked for.
  3. Post how you felt before, during or after. Or not at all.
  4. Post pictures from your walk, but ones that do not point to where you live.
  5. Post inspirational quotes, thoughts or comments.
  6. A simple like of people’s efforts is fine. No need to write an essay unless you feel the need.
  7. On a safety note. Do tell friends, family or the thread when you leave and return safely. Be aware of your personal safety at all times.

Well here goes.

Either it will grow and blossom, with lots of lovely people benefiting. Or I will have egg all over my face – not for the first time in my chequered life and career.

Leolady – may be adding in the odd gallop to my walks.

PS if you don't like us don't be cruel.

  • Went on a lovely walk today, and found myself here...

  • Having this...  ( love finding hidden treasures of gardens)

  • Now that looks far better than a hot dusty walk, Violetsniff!

  • Today I waited till it got dark and did half an hour of yoga, just can’t face walking out while it’s this hot!

And I did it in the nude with a fan going to keep as cool as possible! (But don’t tell anyone, hahaha!)

ps, have found a wettened flannel to wipe over me and allow a fan to dry it off is a way of cooling in order to sleep, in case nobody has thought of a way to help cool ready to sleep?

  • Great idea ..!!how cooling!

it was soooooo hot last night I slept with nothing but panties on and fan on...I nearly got up to have a bath as that also cools me down enoughh to sleep...I think the body has to have some cool down time..but the nights are hot too until about 2am....we just aren’t used to it,are we??xxxxthanks for the tips xxx

  • Hi all, plucked up the courage (and with fans on!) to clean a bit, the house needed it.....still no walks though!

Heard a new dodge for cooling upstairs at night, drop the loft hatch if you have one, hot air rises.....!

  • Good idea , went on a walk at 8.45, still 29 deg, but a little breeze. Managed to stagger round through the park with a break at the pub half way. Very hot in pub so gulped down drink and shot out again. Did nothing else today. Xxx

Onwards and flatwards (don't do hills) and keep walking if you can!

  • I’m up and done all the work intended for today already at just after 8am, but washing machine still not quite finished....done a bit of ironing already, sat here with morning coffee by the door and window into the garden, fan going bringing cooler air into a hot house.

If the storms don’t come today I might venture out as far as our local shops but I’m finding the heat really difficult this summer (must be the Letrozole!)

we had a bit of a storm around 3am but it only woke me for a short time. thankfully it has clouded over now though. Clouds are hefty and high.

  • , I think it is something to do with the letrozole. I never had this intolerance of heat before taking it. Also maybe because I don't sweat under my arms since having axillary clearance. Keep cool! Xx

Onwards and flatwards (don't do hills) and keep walking if you can!
