Well. Welcome to this thread.
You may be surprised why it is here or happy it is here. Then again: ‘You have got to be joking! Do you know what is wrong with me?’ may be your response.
This all began on the Extreme Fatigue thread. On there several people wanted and needed inspiration/incentive to get out and walk. Many people see the benefits of it in their life and to help on this; mad journey, train ride, rollercoaster ride and other positively rude words journey called Breast Cancer.
It is not a thread created to make anyone feel less than they do at present. It is not a thread that will set people against one another. Being competitive with yourself or a simple challenge to yourself is the point, but not a race against others is a key premis.
The idea is that you can do any of these or none:
Well here goes.
Either it will grow and blossom, with lots of lovely people benefiting. Or I will have egg all over my face – not for the first time in my chequered life and career.
Leolady – may be adding in the odd gallop to my walks.
PS if you don't like us don't be cruel.
Thoughts for all those having chemo. I know quite a few who have had it although I have been fortunate not to.
Walking certainly needs to be undertaken early, I think. I went out at about 7:40 a.m. yesterday.
By the way, a word of caution on the fluid intake - I thought I was doing the right thing but found out that I was drinking too much and washing away my potassium - or something like that. One of the common things old people do it seems!!
Hi yellow roses,
odd how it always seems to be potassium with chemo, daughter often needed topping up with potassium when she was going through her stem cell transplants, particularly the donor cell one. So no, it’s not just us elderly folk, she was 34 when she had that last one.
I think we all need to be careful to drink enough, but also think about rehydration sachets if we are in doubt?

Very true about electrolytes/ tracer elements in our bodies. You can buy soluble tablets from most pharmacies, ones for putting in a glass of water. But equally a word of caution not to take them for the sake of taking them

GP's used to dish them out when children had diarrhoea. Dioralyte and Rehydrate
But check if you are on other meds with the pharmacist

Hi Yelloroses,
only sprang to mind since a friend was ill recently while on holiday, she was vomiting, not sure if it was something she ate or a bug, but she couldn’t even keep that down!
Very useful though, with problems either end, particularly if severe. However, LeoLady is totally right , ask your pharmacist!

No walks, at least nothing for pleasure as this heat is getting to me too much, I just walk as needed.....argh, when will it cool down?!?!?
