Well. Welcome to this thread.
You may be surprised why it is here or happy it is here. Then again: ‘You have got to be joking! Do you know what is wrong with me?’ may be your response.
This all began on the Extreme Fatigue thread. On there several people wanted and needed inspiration/incentive to get out and walk. Many people see the benefits of it in their life and to help on this; mad journey, train ride, rollercoaster ride and other positively rude words journey called Breast Cancer.
It is not a thread created to make anyone feel less than they do at present. It is not a thread that will set people against one another. Being competitive with yourself or a simple challenge to yourself is the point, but not a race against others is a key premis.
The idea is that you can do any of these or none:
Well here goes.
Either it will grow and blossom, with lots of lovely people benefiting. Or I will have egg all over my face – not for the first time in my chequered life and career.
Leolady – may be adding in the odd gallop to my walks.
PS if you don't like us don't be cruel.
Impressed you’re still doing Joe Wicks Flossie25 ! Maybe you’ll inspire me to start his sessions again, I used to really enjoy them but have got out of the habit, great start to the day!
Lovely swan photos seaspirit44 . Hoping to see some this evening as have signed up for an early evening Nordic walk as I’ve missed so many recently as have been up and down to Scotland.
Only one photo today, from local walk into town…..

what lovely photos,everyone!
seaspirit44 I like the fact that you are following your swans. There are a couple on our local canal where I take my great nephew and neice .Once we saw the female sitting on her eggs, and went down again last week when my brother was here, and she was sitting in her nest sort of preening the large cygnets now.It was a great lesson in the life cycle of swan hood, and it was lovely to see. They are the only swans on the canal now so we know it is the same family xx
Just had a dance with a community group, so nice to be involved. Glad it wasnt yesterday my energy was so low. Funny how some days are better than others. Not even to do with mood or sleep. I need to have fun.
Just read about someone's cancer returning, Oncotype DX seems to have got it wrong. Although it gave me 11% chance of it coming back in 9 years. Looking at the same odds every year a small % will get it again. Not being pessimistic just puzzling it out. Anyway I share a photo of me being upbeat today. I feel resigned to whatever happens, I am spiritual and do not fear death. Just want a few more years if fun and holidays.
Great photo Sabrina22 . Yes the whole recurrence question is a real can of worms and I find it hard to get much in the way of facts and figures from the medics, mainly seem to be quoted survival rates which isn’t the same thing at all! However I keep popping the pills (Anastrozole) and hoping for the best!
Lovely evening Nordic walk last week, the light was beautiful and the countryside so peaceful. Passed very few other people, just our small group making our way through fields and woods. Love to all, HFxx

Don't know if anyone knows the answer but 'why do they prefer to prescribe Letrozole rather than Tamoxifen to post menopausal women.' Got stirred up a bit by someone's recurrence. Need to put this one to bed and get on with it.
It's a lovely day out there, a bit of gardening today. Need to commune with Mother Earth. Xx

I’m living with recurring breast cancer and small secondaries on spine. I’m living each day as it comes….even in heat hills and valleys!! I do struggle but keep going…
we travelling through Italy and staying close to Assisi until Wednesday.. some pics

@Sabrina22 I had my 2nd year check up last week (still waiting on results) and was told that tamoxifen is usually given to pre menopausal women. For me, as I've not had a period in the 2 years I've been on it, I'm classed as post menopausal so I've been switched to Anastrozole. She didn't state why that one instead of Letrozole but I got really wound up about changing and more side effects as I'm currently struggling with aching swollen joints. Worth asking a BCN? x
Hi Sabrina22 , my understanding (but I’m not a medic) is that the aromatase inhibitors (letrozole, Anastrozole and exemestane) are the first choice for post menopausal women while tamoxifen is first choice for those who still have functioning ovaries, because the drugs work in different ways. But part of the risk versus benefit consideration for using AIs is their potential for bone thinning. So they would not usually be used for post menopausal women with osteoporosis. I have several friends who had very similar cancers to mine who are on tamoxifen for this reason. I’m on Anastrozole but already have osteopenia so I do worry about the bone loss, and in fact have a telephone GP appointment later in the week to discuss my latest dexa scan which apparently shows concerning changes since 2 years ago. I suspect I now have osteoporosis but will find out for sure at the appointment. I’m assuming I’ll be looking to start bisphosphonates and possibly stop the Anastrozole. We’ll see! I’m trying not to overthink it all, the worry of recurrence is never far away but we can only do what we’re advised is best in our individual cases. I’d certainly switch to tamoxifen if that’s what’s recommended.
You could post the question on Ask a Nurse for a medical explanation? Xx
