Well. Welcome to this thread.

You may be surprised why it is here or happy it is here. Then again: ‘You have got to be joking! Do you know what is wrong with me?’ may be your response.

This all began on the Extreme Fatigue thread. On there several people wanted and needed inspiration/incentive to get out and walk. Many people see the benefits of it in their life and to help on this; mad journey, train ride, rollercoaster ride and other positively rude words journey called Breast Cancer.

It is not a thread created to make anyone feel less than they do at present. It is not a thread that will set people against one another. Being competitive with yourself or a simple challenge to yourself is the point, but not a race against others is a key premis.

The idea is that you can do any of these or none:

  1. Post when you have walked.
  2. Post how many minutes you walked for.
  3. Post how you felt before, during or after. Or not at all.
  4. Post pictures from your walk, but ones that do not point to where you live.
  5. Post inspirational quotes, thoughts or comments.
  6. A simple like of people’s efforts is fine. No need to write an essay unless you feel the need.
  7. On a safety note. Do tell friends, family or the thread when you leave and return safely. Be aware of your personal safety at all times.

Well here goes.

Either it will grow and blossom, with lots of lovely people benefiting. Or I will have egg all over my face – not for the first time in my chequered life and career.

Leolady – may be adding in the odd gallop to my walks.

PS if you don't like us don't be cruel.

  • Catching up on posts as have been away for 3 nights, mini break in Norfolk. Fab sheep , such expressive faces. And how thrilling to have been to the theatre ! I haven’t been to cinema or theatre since pre lockdown and don’t feel much inclined now that restrictions are being abandoned. I should have taken my chance these last few months!

Lovely time in Norfolk, mainly on the beach which certainly blew the cobwebs away. Thankfully not in the current heat. Managed to swim on Saturday morning pre crowds and heat. The waves on the previous days were too rough for my wimpish approach to swimming. Hubby is a good swimmer so he swam all days but one. Photos are mix of Cley (rough and wavy) and Wells - lovely and quiet for picnic evening meal on Friday. Love to all, HFxx PS well done you to  for rescuing more battery hens, they’ll hopefully soon fill out with flesh and feathers in your lovely care xx

  • Beautiful sea views!
I just walked up and down the lawn, it needed a cut so I waited till the temp was less than 30 degrees…..(just!)

I looked upwards earlier and the loganberry looked amazing against the sky, all the leaf veins were so clear-cut.

  • A flat, town walk today......like  we couldn't contemplate too many hills in mid 30 heat and as for the finishing the grass......Sunday silence laws don't allow it.....so that's a get up tomorrow early job!

  • I didn’t realise you had silence laws on Sundays, ? Do your shops open on Mondays? As I know some parts of France have that as a closed day too….

Morning all the new hens are doing well, they’ve ventured out of their coop and been exploring a bit. Have to be careful as they can get sunburn as they’ve so much bare flesh bless them.

  • How lovely to see these poor chucks outside in the fresh air. I totally agree with you , it’s unbelievable that chickens are still kept in battery cages and ‘deep litter’ barns in nightmare conditions. I remember collecting petition signatures in my student halls in the late 70’s…… yet here we still are.

We also visited Hollham Hall in Norfolk and loved the grounds. The walled kitchen gardens were like stepping back in time. I liked the pattern on this stretch of grass….And of course fabulous trees.
