So in  5 days time I have the operation to remove the tumour - randomly known as Ian.
Hi Jacks,
it does sound really similar! I thought chemo was the last thing I wanted until they told me I would be getting it and then realised that it would put my mind at ease that there were no nasties lurking. I didn’t Ben know there was another test available.
I have found this this information about EC https://www.breastcancercare.org.uk/information-support/facing-breast-cancer/going-through-treatment-breast-cancer/chemotherapy/ec-chemotherapy which you may find interesting also this https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthracycline it may helo you with understanding why they are using EC rather than other drugs, but the gist is that they are used in more aggressive cancer types.
Ringing the BCN sounds like a good idea I’m sure they can answer your questions.
My first chemo was on 20th December and my next one is on 10th Jan.
you got a date for your first chemo?
I hope you’re having a great day xx
Bigguy I've already got a kevin of my own, has a great repertoire of grunts.
I do most of mine in bed in a morning or on floor later in day, but one i have to do is stood up raising arms above head from front then lower to sides, poss could do sat on a dining rm style chair, but guess I'm used to doing them stood up.
At least celings at home are higher, or maybe i just need shorter arms or legs, or both!
Hi ladies.
Just grabbing 5 mins sit . Been out twice in the awful weather to drop Libby at a dance workshop this morning and then walked into town and then had to go collect her just now so pretty tired. But she's had a good day so happy kiddie = happy mummy. Dying for a bath and to get my bra off now, the numb swollen feeling gets worse with it on.
Jackie- not surprised you have a headache love given yesterday's news. Sounds like you have a fantastic husband and he and your family will get you through and low days. Great for you to have Sparkles on this thread as well as Bigguy and Ali for chemo solidarity. I agree though about not looking too much as potential side effects etc as whatever will happen will happen and no 2 people react the same anyway.
Leolady - poor you sounds like you are really run down. Do you need us to start nagging you to go back to Drs? Love the frog chorus words are very apt for us lot...we have a few frogs in our garden I'll see if they want to be our mascots!
Molly- great to see you posting so soon after surgery. How are you feeling? Make sure you take it very very easy to start with. And beware of dive-bombing kids....no matter how sensible is and how often she tells other people to be careful at least once a day she forgets and jumps on me for a "super hug".
Jolly- shame weather been so wet but still sounds like a lovely break. Can't beat a cottage holiday. Libby does a good Kevin when asked to do something "unfair" like pick up her own dirty clothes off her floor. 5 years until she's a teenager...can only imagine...
Who has appointments coming up in next few days? Keep trying to keep track and failing! Bigguy and Ali when is your next chemo,? Hope you are both have some decent days now you are couple of weeks in. And once you've had the next one you can start counting towards half way point.
I've mentioned before we are going to Crete on 1 June. It's almost certain that I'll need chemo and that holiday won't happen. Been getting really worried about how much money we would lose as I'd just filled in renewal form for travel insurance couple of days before I was diagnosed but it didn't get posted. So hubby has made enquiries and we will only loose deposit and would get the £1k we've paid towards balance back as long as cancel before end of March. So big relief. We can decide what to do once know treatment plan for definite. The one thing that makes me cry is thought of telling Libby about holiday as she is beyond excited about first holiday abroad. But at least if we get the money back we can book something else in U.K straight after treatment finished to soften the blow. We went to Centreparcs last year and she said it was best 5 days of her life so that's a possible contingency.
Forecast for tmrw not great and got to wait in for District Nurse again so tnink it will be a pj day for me and my shadow. Despite the fact she is having expensive birthday party next week, a trip to theatre and of course heap of presents, I've got a massive urge to surprise her with a day at zoo or similar this weekend as we have rare weekend free and want to do stuff whilst I'm well. Just got convince our driver (husband!)
Time to do exercises, arm has been hurting a bit today...dont think it likes the weather.
Much love x
Lol!! We have a Kevin to!!Â
My physio sounds slightly different to yours. I’m sure you can skip the reach high exercises whilst you’re on hols.Â
I think the forecast for tomorrow is better so you might get a dry walk in.
xXx
Jammy, i love taking my bra off at end of day, def agree in early days though it really does not help the numb underarm feeling. Some of mine has got better, but i do still get a great numb fat feeling when i think I've done too much.
Shame about the hol too, but at least you'll get some of it back which is def good.
Bigguy, i could forgo those exercises for a day or two, but i must, must improve my bust! Except half of it is now missing. Lol
Still rain and showers forecast but off for a train trip and should hopefully hit a dry spell before the return trip where we are going, not great walking weather unfortunately, stream outside cottage is definitely in spate and in places over its banks, which tels you how much water is running off the higher ground.
View from our bedroom window this morning. Yes that is a half sunk rowing boat to the right!
Hya JammyR, it sounds like you’re doing amazing since your op. Do take time to rest though.
I’m feeling almost back to normal now -  just a little dizzy which seems worse if doing more. I’m not going to let it beat me.Â
Center Parcs sounds a brilliant plan if it worked last year. There’s always next year for a plane, it’s hard to explain to little ones though.Â
Our youngest is 15 and still sulking about not going abroad. We mentioned the Isle of Wight, he had a strop but would be happy to go to a camp site we’ve been to in Hope Valley loads of times before. Flipping kids!!
Take care of yourself xxxÂ
JollyG, now I’m seeing the exercise session in Carry On Camping!! Lol!!
Shame about the weather but the view looks perfect xx
Hi Ladies, I've just sat down to read through this thread, I think we are all feeling symptoms or some emotional drain from this nastiness!
Jo- Looks like youv'e had a busy day and I'm impressed that you even bothered to wear a bra, I look like I'm Mrs fitness fanatic uk as ive recently been living in my 'active wear', leggings, baggy hoody and gilet, nothing has been further from the truth as ive done bugger all apart from a little bit of walking with the dog and no bra was touching my tender bits lol! Â Â Jackie I'm feeling the dread of chemo day getting closer 16th Jan but as Joanne says it will affect us all differently and I'm not going to dwell too much we will get through all the side effects even if it's with some considerable moaning from us all with our different symptoms I'm sure I will have many! Today I think I've had a little demon with a pitch girl constantly stabbing me in my swollen armpit which I suppose has taken the symptoms of my back ache off a bit! Jolly that sounds like a great idea a few days away from the humdrum! Jo - you don't know for sure yet 're your summer hols but like you say if you do have to join us on the chemo front at least you won't be out of pocket too much, we have had to alter our sumner hols too, was going to be a trip to see my brother in Italy but maybe it could be a winter break instead now! Hope all the other lovely ladies on here are ok! Xx
