So in  5 days time I have the operation to remove the tumour - randomly known as Ian.
Debs it is weird the disparagies between trusts, mine said dont use aloe vera, but gave me a steroid cream and an emollient cream, i find it bizarre they don't say to use anything, you are basically getting radiation burns, which is what sunburn is, ok you're not going to factor 50 before hand or during, but the skin needs mositurising. A colleague, so in same trust, but not had a mx, obvipsuly got prescribed same creams as me, but she had a small spot under breast that blistered as she must have not quite got to it properly with the cream, but i can't imagine not using cream son any of the area, if you could get burns and blisters, bonkers if ask me.
Jammy hopefully cough will do one soon, they do have a habit of lingeri g though.
Ali, good luck for the next 14 zaps, hoping your skin doesn't react too badly, i burn quite easily too, took a few more zaps for me than you before i started going pinker
BC wise all ok here at the moment, life, aka work has taken another unexpected turn, so not all sorted as thought, weirdly its like being dx with BC again, those early days when you don't know what to think, wha the future will hold, if making the right choice or not. Emotionally battered, but hey ypu know what, got through the last 7 months or so dealing with lenny, I'm still here, so will survive work issues too, but is it wrong to want just a teeny portion of life to go right for once?
Keep smiling lovely ladies, gloria gaynor springs to mind.......we will survive
JollyG - I totally agree with you, i made myself look a bit silly because i asked them several times about the creams to make sure i hadnt misunderstood, asking if i could apply in the evening and shower off in the morning before attending the next session but no they just said simple soap to shower and no creams! When my skin goes pink and hot which im sure it will as i have fair sensitive skin then i will be applying moisture to my skin as you say it doesnt make sense!
It doesnt seem fair that you have been through all this bc poop and are now having all the uncertainty and stress at work, i would have thought they would be more compassionate towards you and try and sort things and lessen the stress altogether, i just dont think sometimes people understand how traumatic the process is that we have all been through and because we look ok we are recovered from it which is nonsense! But as you say we are syrong women and im sure having come through this bc nitemare you will soon overcome this next uneccessary hurdle! X
Aliblue - Im glad rt went well and your morning appts top trump my lunch time ones! Im not pink yet but im sure it wont be long before i am and i shall be slapping the forvidden cream on lol x
JammyR - Sounds like you had a perfect family day, you cant beat a day at the coast finishing with fish and chips and amusements, just what the doctor ordered i say and definately what you needed to lift your spirits from your nasty cough! I bet Libby loved it too! Just think it wont be long before the 6 week sumner holidays so you will be over treatment by then and we will be able to enjoy many more family outings to take our minds of bc poop!
Serious pink boob land here. First 4 RT managed no issues but last night I was gently glowing whilst shouting at the footie. Mr L hates footie. Aveeno every step and aloe vera in the fridge in case. I have rarely used less than SPF 30 and all my make up/lotions and potions have an SPF in them. Not worth the pain and the feckles!!!
My eye issue was an infection nothing to do with hay fever but not helped. One day's dose and I can already see, with less itching and no pink eyes. Phew
Glad you had a fun day at the seaside JammyR and those who are RT'ing hope all goes well today. My appt is 4.30 pm. Whoopie school will be out. Saturday and Sunday are 9.30 so that will be a breeze (she said hopefully)
Fingers crossed you have all lovely plans for the weekend and the BC SE's bugger off
Finding the long journey to hospital and fitting in life a bit challenging so apologies for no real special mentions.
Gold stars for you all
Leolady56
Leolady56 - Well number 3 rt done now and the weekend schools out on the rt front! So maybe one more zap for me and maybe i will be glowing too as i have fair skin but no signs of redness just yet but the forbidden creams are at the ready if needed!
Well my confusion continues having had the professor at the Royal Stoke hospital sending a letter to my onco stating that she should be prescribing me letrozole not tamoxifen as my bloods prior to chemo showed menopausal! My Onco phoned me today saying she disagrees and as im only just 49 there is a slight chance that i may still be pre menopausal and so tamoxifen 2yrs then letrozole for 8yrs but she says ultimately my decision which advice to go with but tbh i dont think it is as im not bleeping qualified but she did say if i went on letrozole and if i wasnt post menopausal then i would be at risk as it wouldnt be an effective treatment but she finished by saying i think you are 99% post menopausal but as im not 100% due to your age i think its the safer option to go tamoxifen for now as you are covered both for pre and post menopausal states! Has anyone else had this dilemma? Jacmatholmad i think you are on Tamoxifen is Teva one of the better brands as ive read some brands are awful for se although i realise everyone is different! Deb x
Hi deb I am 55 this year, my periods were intermittent when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. My surgeon and oncologist both say I am to be on tamoxifen for 5 years then do a blood test and change over if test showed I have been through menopause. I started on teva brand but it made my muscles ache and I got a rash on my face. I am now on wockhardt brand i have slight puffyness on my feet but apart from that i am ok so going to stick with it as its only been 3 weeks with the wockhardt brand and doc says it may get better once I get used to it
Hope your well
Aliblue - Thanks so much for sharing that with me , its reassuring to hear that Tamoxifen is possibly the safest choice until we know for sure that im post menopausal! Its just confirmed to me that Tamoxifen is the right choice now and im picking up the prescription this evening although i dont know which brand yet! How long have you being taking it, im 5 weeks post chemo now so not sure if i should have taken it sooner with all the confusion? Hope your 2nd rt went ok today! Debxx
Hi Deb
Never easy this BC crap!Â
I have also heard that some post menopausal women are given tamoxifen too as they can’t tolerate letrozole so I think you’ll be quite safe. I also get the feeling that tamoxifen causes less issues than the AIs but that’s only from reading these boards
I have TEVA brand and definitely no major issues. So kept to it and make sure pharmacist always dispenses it, no problem so far.Â
I have been warned that Wochardt one to avoid
Good luck
Jacmatholmad - Thanks Jac, funnily enough they have just supplied me with the Teva brand, so hopefully they will be ok and it gives me peace of mind to hear other ladies older than me are prescribed Tamoxifen too, thanks Jac this bc poop really causes stressful moments! Deb xx
Hi
i have used 2 different ones and favour the skin relief moisturiser with the blue cap/lid. Am currently using up the daily moisturising one. But will definitely go back to the skin relief. I find the consistency nicer.
hope that helps
