So in   5 days time I have the operation to remove the tumour - randomly known as Ian.

Why in the last few days have I become incredibly tired and emotional ??
Did anyone else feel the same?

     - Thanks so much for your good wishes. BCN says to expect drains to be in for 10 days, how long was yours in for?? unfortunately, we don’t have a spare bed but hubster quite accommodating of my post-op nest in our bed!!

I’m nervous about tomorrow but no so much about op & recovery But more what they might find whilst they’re in there. I know what will be will be etc but it doesn’t stop us worrying does it?? I’ve only been getting some notifications for the past few days so not completely up to speed but it seems like you’re struggling a bit with chemo number 5??? Hope you’re on the way back up now.

     - What a terrible experience for you both!! At least you’ve got a plan b. Still completely rubbish though.

Well, hair’s coming back as a sort of soft down. Seems to be grey & white.....eyebrows & eyelashes remain AWOL but pleased head hair’s sprouting at least. Wig & hats dumped as have got a bad case of prickly heat on my head so been commando all week & been fine; been to gp, shopping, etc & felt more or less ok. I’ll try & post tomorrow or Sat with an update post op. Love to all xx

I had drain in for 5 days but seems to vary vastly between hospitals. My drain was still filling up quite a bit when they took it out and to be honest I think if it had been left longer the swelling/seroma may have been less as all that fluid had to go somewhere.!! Just a hunch though. Didnt find the drain too bad it came out for walks and meals out with me!

Only natural to be fretting about results but you have had chemo and whatever the results the nodes will be gone so you will be cancer free, if indeed you arent already...judging by how this bleeping chemo knocks us about surely it must have give rogue  cells hanging around in nodes a kicking!

Take care and rest up.. you've got this.

    xx

Jacks, no idea how old your DD is but when i first went about my lump a yr ago i had a US 1st before i had a mammo, as someone said young breasts tend to be too dense for a mammo to be effective, surprised that didn't offer a US especially if mammo machine broken. So frustrating for you both, and do not blame ypu looking at other routes, we all know how horrible it is not having answers when you need them most.

Ali and Jammy, feeling more human than did at weekend, sweated my way through sunday, not 100% sure if cold sweats or hot flushes or combo of both, either were possible. Still choked with cold, plus cough this time round, not a constant one thankfully, but when i do its a proper rattley one.

Hope everyone else is ok, will catch up properly when i can, been hard trying to keep up at times with who is where on the rollercoaster ride.

  • Oh buggering bleep

I was getting already to reply then I found I had something in my eyes!!! Grit from the chemo I guess!!!

I promise to post after my Herception ( predict went for perception) tomorrow

I’ll post pics of my grandson Zippy rocking his chemo scarf like Nana Poo

    God bless you all

    Take care

Lindsay - oh Jacks good ass kicking !!!! Hope it’s not my bad influence

Life is like a boxing match, defeat is declared not when you fall ..... But when you refuse to stand up again ....... So, I get knocked down but I get up again. x

Hi earwig o, What a relief it is to get that date. I go on Monday for mine. It seems to have been forever coming. I went yesterday to be marked ready. Are you having a sentinel lymph node biopsy too?

Great hair  ! I loved mine when it was that length - it was really soft and I wanted to keep stroking it!!

  • Aliblue - Fabulous hair growth! Wow! well that gives me hope as im 3 weeks behind you and as yet on my bald patches i cant see anything yet! I do wonder how it will mix in with the brown hair ive already still kept lol, especially as im sure it will come through grey but hey, hair is hair and it just shows that the chemo has left you now and you are well on the road to normality! Big hugs lovely! Xx

  • Bigguy - All the best for today, just want to re-iterate what the lovely JammyR says in that firstly the drains are a bit of a pain (i had 3!) but more an inconvenience than anything else, i had mine for 7 days i think if i remember the daily fluid has to become less than 30ml before they remove them! Today you will be cancer free and the chemo will have smashed everything and anything else is being removed so i know its natural to worry but the surgeons etc will make sure that any nasties are totally gone and you are well on the road to leaving this bc behind for good! We are all with you, also i found a V pillow from Amazon fab for post surgery it supports in the right place and helped with positioning my arm after clearance! Big hugs Deb x
