Sensitive skin

After radiotherapy, I got a radiation burn which eventually responded to treatment but left me with irritated patches on my breast which I treated conservatively with Dermol. Fast forward 6 months to January this year I started to break out in random patches of infected sores which were INTENSELY itchy & sensitive. I’ve had them on my forehead, feet, genital area and right now on both arms. I can’t tell you how much I’ve spent on creams, lotions & tablets to ease it, but it seems as soon as I have relief in 1 area, another breaks out. I stopped examestane 9 months ago so it’s not that, but I’m thinking maybe the radiation affected my immune system and caused me to be more sensitive. Has anyone had anything similar, if so, how did you manage it?

  • Hi

It seems like you're going through an extremely tough and unpleasant time.

I see you posted about this a month ago and your GP had taken swabs to try and find out what was happening. What were the results of that and have you been back to the GP to tell them that whatever treatment they prescribed hasn't worked?

  • Hi Latchbrook. All the test results were negative. I used the steroid cream he prescribed but it didn’t help. I then ditched all fragranced products & now use Dermol as a cleanser & moisturiser. But the breakouts still continue on other parts of my body. I didn’t mention in my post that my eyes were so bad a few weeks ago, I had to go to Urgent care. They gave me cream which made it worse, so now I’m bathing my eyes with cool boiled water every few hours. Dr just treats the current breakout but I’m thinking it’s not a skin problem, rather something internal  but I wanted to gather some information before I go back & ask for it to be investigated.

  • Hi Jennand,  I would definately get the doctor to do more tests.  I have sores on my body as well.  I am on Exemastane, Ribociclib and denosumab.  I have had to stop the Ribociclib for two weeks to see if it is that what is causing them.  They are getting better but still there.  But he has done blood films and other tests .  I am sure there must be something more they can do.  I found the itching to be horrendous and have tried Moogoo Dermol, E45 you name it I have tried it.  Unless you push the doctor these days nothing seems to be done.  Hope you get relief soon.

  • Thanks for replying Lee. It’s quite debilitating. Sometimes the itching is so bad that I feel like screaming. Apart from topical applications I’m also taking Piriton daily, which of course makes me very tired, every day. I have actually rung my surgery today for an appointment with a different Dr, so keeping my fingers crossed. Hope you stumble on something to help you soon

  • Hi, have you been on any chemo? I have suddenly developed psoriasis all over my body and dermatology say it could possibly be triggered by the chemo. I am on Eeibulin.

  • Hi, no I didn’t have chemo. I took Exemestane for 9 months but stopped because of the side effects, which interestingly didn’t include skin problems. That started about 3 months after stopping it. That’s not to say that it didn’t trigger it though. I’ll discuss with my GP
