You’re right, Violetsniff, Factories Act gives a minimum temperature but not a maximum, and I suspect that is now out of date/repealed. 

Stay safe, folk. It’s now a mere 27 out there so I’ve opened outer doors/windows and placed fan to drag in the slightly cooler air.

Not looking forward to the next 2 days which will be hotter….

Hi ladies when you using your fans place a freezer pack or frozen bottle of water in front of air flow to cool the air even further .Acts like poor man’s aircon used to do it for the girls at work when they were on tills .

My blink outdoor camera tells me it's 21 degrees outside now.  I'm sitting in bed with 4 windows open (we have curved bay) so nice breeze.  We spend most of day sitting under gazebo with feet in pool.  Had to venture out to post a parcel as sold shoes on Depop.  Nice cold shower then indoors with all front/side windows open as there was breeze, back of house blinds fully closed and windows on vents to aid draught from front.  
No plans Cg or next two days aside from online Governors meeting.  I've put a sign on end of my drive offering for people to refill their water bottles from my outside tap as I norget a lot of people walking back from sea front and it's a gradual incline .  No takers yet.  Also a bowl of water for dogs.    In back garden birdbath is topped up plus 3 other small bowls of water, one under parasol !  Out some bird food out, we only had nuts or fat balls but no takers.  I back onto woodland so lots of birds around but nearly all day long a small black bird plays on our lawn occasionally joined by a brown one.  Been regularly visiting for weeks !  Think he's seen off the wood pigeons and the tiny little ones (name escapes me who are also regulars.  This is his patch now.  He comes up close to us.  Not interested in water bath but when we soaked a bit of lawn that was very dry he loved it.  

Get your bra+and knickers in freezer ladies !  Nice to keep your bits cool !

Arrr "Thank You" Violetsniff  - I am in the background most of the times reading and trying to catch up   Well I thought I would sleep most of the day and stay up overnight and early morning ...... hmmm this isn't going to work as I am so tired, the house is quiet and I feel the draw of my bed calling me.

I'm the same with regards to the heat 'they say its going to be warm and the map is covered in red - but its been like that for days and then I think ..... well how much hotter is it going to be and .... more so 'have they got it right' or will be have rain or thunderstorms - we can but wait and see.

Good idea Northerner about the placing the freezer pack or frozen water bottle in front of the fan - this suppose to work well.

For some reason I am struggling with my feet this year - my ankles in particular ..... I am certain its related to my weight combined with the heat.

Good morning.....yes, I'm up early again. It's already 22°....well, actually this is the lowest temps have been all night. At midnight it was still 33°! Yesterday afternoon I noticed the shrubs were blowing and I thought.....ah, there's a breeze so I opened the door and stepped into a 40° degree fan oven. I shut the door fast. There was no possibility to sit out in the shade around our house. And today is forecast hotter....then for some weird quirk of climate, Tuesday and Wednesday will be 15° cooler before it goes back up to mid 30's for following week. That's ok. We're used to that in summer. It is just surprising how an increase of a degree or two, changes everything. Also I get much warmer myself since I had chemo. I thought it would change back with time but it hasn't....I burn very quickly now ( factor 50 is my normal face cream) and can't do much exertion without pouring with sweat.  Have others of you found that too? 

Today is market day. I need lots of fruit as I have a son staying and food disappears at an alarming rate but I shall go early.

20deg at 6am when I got up . Opened all doors and windows ,watered veggies and water bottles filled and in fridge . Dexter had his morning walk . Still got cloud cover but already temp rising 23degs .

Feel like I’m planning for siege lol   Cooked pork loin this morning to be eaten cold over next couple days .

House feels cool will shut all windows etc at about 10am most prob need a nap by then lol

Hairdresser coming here at 11am bribed with ice cream and cold drinks so we not going to her salon 

Whatever you do today stay cool 

Very similar here, all jobs completed…..I’ve got a single blow-up bed organised downstairs now as tonight may well be too hot to sleep upstairs. Will probably nap on that during the mid to late afternoon when it’s supposedly at the hottest.

I was supposed to have a hairdresser appointment tomorrow but I’ve postponed it for a day, she’s got a little one (works at home) and says they will mostly be living in the shower!

windows getting closed to now, especially upstairs…..

stay as cool as possible, all (hot flushes continue to be a pain!)

We at a lovely 34 degrees here!  Cloud covering just moving .  I'm enjoying a cup of tea on patio , hubby just finished oiling the garden table he made / well the underside anyway .  Gazebo covering it low so my pool exposed !  Me blackbird now getting very close to going on our pool !  Need to sunscreen my body, only done my face after shower .  This heat making me starving god some strange reason . Think I'll make a tomato sauce for my Ikea plant balls.    before it gets too hot to cook x

I just put on a vest type tee shirt that I’ve wrung out in water, stood in front of a fan, incredibly cooling! 

it’s apparently 28 here at present
