PenelopeJ57 hope your planning meeting went ok.
All those having sleep problems ... hope tonight is better.
What a surprise for you moomy ... visitors from US. Agree about reminders about COVID safety strategies.
Snowys Mum it’s all too easy to say yes when someone calls from work (remember it well) but it’s good to say no. Got to put yourself first at times. Norman looking good.
OH just about over jet lag but not finding the colder weather to his liking, as usual. I’m nearly acclimatised to him being back . When the cold weather starts to make itself known I wish I lived in a bit more warmer place .... not too hot though. Would a multi fuel burner be good? I saw what looked like a coal delivery to a house nearby. Must have been smokeless fuel. I started wishing I had a coke fire as you kept it going all winter. Lovely and cosy.

Flossie25 No No No...do not be seduced by the romance of it. I got a log burner after a holiday in a Norfolk cottage. The revolting ash and cleaning it out and buying coke or logs...all has to be stored and its dirty. Flipping thing wasn't even that warm.
I had it ripped out with greatest joy and got an electric one with pretend flames. You can even get a TV thing with a picture of a burning fire. Anyway mine was a big mistake (for me) xxx

Do you have granules stoves in UK.? I think they might be translated as pellets. I have those. They are amazing. The pellets are made from wood chippings so environmental. The heat from fire is instant as it ignites at the push of a button and a fan directs the warm air around the room. There are cosy flames to look at. We have one pretty one and one more boiler style . There's no ash and no dust. I had coal in UK in an aga and wood fires here before we changed so I know the difference. @snowysmum is right about the mess although in our houses which have always been cottages, they were always warm. I also know the granules are cheaper than other fuels after initial cost of stove.
( sorry only photo I could find...obviously Christmas.)
Evening everyone ! Well , my RT meeting went well today . My consultant was really nice and understanding about the pain I have been in . Said it was all understandable and my treatment plan starts 8th November as long as the infection is fully cleared or alternatively I haven't completely lost my mind and done a runner etc etc. This has made me feel loads better . I have 3 weeks of daily ( weekend off) treatments so am going to look into accessing any charitable help I can get regarding transport to and from the hospital.Any help with advice would be great .
I live in London and my hospital is Guys so driving is out of the question , a cab there and back will cost £60 a day ( absolutely unaffordable ). I’m really not looking forward to getting on the train every day , especially in Winter even though my son has stepped up to be my chaperone every day , how did I get to have such a lovely young man as a son ?
If anyone has any suggestions or knows of any schemes could you let me know ?
Even if it was just twice a week .
Lots of love fruit loops

I had a fan type heater with artificial flames and a fireplace surround in my old house . Thought it was great and heated the room well as being quite pretty to look at when it was on .
My visitors totally forgot that the whole crew have Covid tests tomorrow, so it will be later in the week that they come, not yet sure what day. But son and I had a trial run putting the gazebo up (snd down!) so we know exactly how and where is best to put guy ropes etc.

Guinea is cute, Snowys Mum!
I think you need to be nuts on woodburning stoves to have one, daughter and partner are, even to the extent of several different styles of fire pits!
hugs xxx
Moomy
Trying to catch up on the all the posts.
I will say Norman looks so relaxed and massssssive so lovely
The pellet fire sounds interesting. I have the pretend coal effect with the 'steam' that is not steam that looks like it is smoke - it gives no heat and, well, is pointless other than looking nice.... give me an open, coal fire that gets the back of my legs mockled and I'll be happy.
I'm grabbing a sprinkling of Sleep Fairy Dust as I will drop to sleep before I have closed my eyes.
Sending massive hugs and loads of love out to you all xxxxx
Or no alternative!......no gas, walls too thick to install central heating and electric radiators would barely take the chill out of these rooms but wood fires give off powerful heat if they are enclosed in metal boxes.....granules are just wood made tiny, no chopping or dirt and burn very efficiently. You can't even see smoke from the chimney......
Oh dear , can you blow across some more sleep dust my way ? Insomnia is insane !
