  • Good idea. Hope he feels better soon.

  • I am glad you can visit your husband ,and hope he settles after the sickness and tachycardia. It is such a difficult time for you both.

On the subject of sleep…I found a rather interesting (to me)thing lately..

I was to get up early for a trip and worried I would oversleep.I have many alarms but sometimes don’t get to sleep before,say,3 am,and oversleep and miss things.(I also wear hearing aids so sometimes sleep through alarm)of course, the need to get up early makes me anxious so I don’t sleep etc etc.

wel, I was telling my friend and she said…try not taking your sleeping tablet.

My mind had been doing so many gymnastics to feel I should take it…but tried a night not taking, after reorganising myself to go to bed earlier for a week and get up earlier etc…and it worked!!

The trouble was,the sleeping tablet was making me too snoozy in the morning when I should get up etc.

I have found getting up early and going to bed earlier is the answer on this one atm.

sorry…I know it is old fashioned, and we must discipline ourselves to put that TV knob off.I think this can be harder when you live alone and find it hard to face hours of lying awake.

It is an ongoing learning curve for me!

kHaving said all that …whta can be done when you are anxious???

    hmmmmm xx

  • That’s interesting, , but if you’ve been on sleeping tablets for some time then you’ll have a rebound effect when you stop, so you’ll have some sleepless (to you) feeling nights till a new rhythm emerges?

Ive been able to speak to a doctor on the ward (an ex-OT colleague was seeing hubs and when he said his wife was an OT she put 2and 2 together and phoned me, she put the doc on the line) and in advice from Oxford they’ve stopped the immunotherapy tablets while they try and treat the AF and a possible infection (they think possibly chest - though he hasn’t had a cough but they’ve put him on antibiotics anyway). He was reasonably positive as the AF had come back down and said they were awaiting an Oxford decision to CT scan or not, will be happy to see me at 3 pm or so when I go in. Sally (my ex-colleague) will try to be back on the ward too to meet up with me. We laughed as she is now good at getting to grips with electronic records (she hated computers!)

Wishing you all peace and calm in the storm...with a helping of laughter and joy to bring healing Heart️

  •  , I've been on Tamoxifen since mid March of this year and I haven't had any side effects so hopefully neither of you will either.  With those who do some find that changing brand helps.  Great news about your results

So sorry to hear your husband is still struggling , I'm sure he'll feel much better for seeing you.

Sorry to hear about your daughter  and glad she's feeling a bit better now.

I hope it's a better night for you tonight

Sending hugs and love to all x

  • Well, we had  a bit of excitement today.

I was watching tv late last night when I suddenly realised I wasn't alone. There was something in the chimney and from the scrabbling sound, it was a bird. It must have fallen between the wires at the top. It was too dark to attempt to remove it because we needed it to fly to the light. We hoped it would settle and rest until dawn and it did go quiet. Was it dead? At 06.00 I found out when it started scratching around again.

We have a inglenook with a log burner and the width is blocked by a metal sheet, just a hole big enough for the tube chimney. We had to dissemble the chimney and leave the hole. We could hear the bird. It did sound big but we couldn't see it even with a torch. So we opened the windows and closed the room doors and then hoped.........

Later in the morning it was close to the hole and it was an owl but we couldn't get it to drop through so again we left it. I had to go out and OH cut the grass. Next time he looked it had gone. Bird droppings near the window were further evidence.

Certainly not part of the holiday packing for today we had anticipated!

  • Wow! Glad it escaped! What an experience!

Ive been in to see hubs and also the doctor who was reassuring, saying they hope to get hubs home within the next day or so with a care package from the palliative team in place, that will certainly help me as yesterday I wasn’t really able to do much at all, apart from run up and downstairs to him, it was the first time he just felt too unwell to get up.

Family have been here, daughter is staying over and we are watching tennis together (one of her voiceover jobs is for tennis!)

    Hugs xxx

  • Hi , just what you needed just before your holiday. Glad the owl managed to get out after you had dissembelled the chimney. Hope the only damage was the bird droppings by the window. Enjoy your holiday. xx Kwissy
