  • Oh Squeaky poor you.  You should definitely stay away from Google, just use this site, your surgeon and BCN.

Your tumour was small enough that they offered you a lumpectomy so it should all get removed with a mastectomy, there is no reason to think otherwise from what you have been told.

All of us have assumed the worst at some point and thought about the D word but it's highly unlikely so try and stick to reading peoples bios and you'll find lots of positive outcomes.  It's the only thing that helped me when my mind went there.  Breast cancer is very treatable, try and hang onto that.

    Sending hugs xx

  • Regarding Bras after mastectomy there was an old thread about it that I came across and there they recommended two different bras - they both need a prosthetic for the mastectomy side and have pockets for that.  The ladies on that thread seemed unable to find a bra that allowed for flat on one side in which case maybe a sports bra might work better.

Here are the two they suggested

    - One was https://www.nicolajane.com/choosing-a-bra/?gclid=CjwKCAiAgc-ABhA7EiwAjev-j8dmG5L8DmWxR9_1_DhzG_HvITWi-0sz3l3DhYl_AtMy6c2NJahFThoCKAgQAvD_BwE

    - The other mentioned was Amoena Bra.

  • I can recommend Amoena, I still use them now and they have some good sales and special offers

  • Hello , Please ,please don't wander away from this site or your Breast Care Nurse or Surgeon. The information on here is to be trusted  and I see that you are waiting for a phone call from your BCN. who will know your precise details. Breast cancer is VERY treatable and even more so than it was when I started on my first journey with it 22 years ago . My most recent operation and subsequent treatment was completely unrelated to the first one (see my details if you wish )
i am well endowed too and bought new supportive non wired bras from M&S just before my operation.   I  also bought bra extenders from the internet , that I used after the radiotherapy and occasionally even now. Hope you get the information and support from your BCN . Sending big virtual hugs . xxKwissy

Thanks everyone for your lovely Birthday messages, it’s been a weird birthday in lockdown but had a lovely FaceTime with my special friend Sal ().

Started the day off with blood test at the hospital then hubby had his COVID vaccination, I had mine Saturday night, so we are one step nearer now. Then this afternoon had phone call from BCN to say bloods were ok to start next course of Chemo which was delayed by a week because of low blood count. After over 3 years on chemo  it has only been delayed a few times so can’t complain.

Then this afternoon we had a lovely afternoon tea delivered from one of my daughters, which was absolutely yummy, so not bad for a lockdown birthday.

Wishing everyone with treatment and appointments good luck. Also well done to everyone with good news, been trying to catch up, but it’s so confusing with so many posts. Welcome to any newbies too. Thanks to for starting this amazing thread which has been a a lifeline for so many and we are nearly at 32000 posts well done everyone xx
