Morning everyone hope all well and treatment / appointments going well And you all looking forward to weekend
& welcome ...sorry you couldn't sleep but glad you found us .
Hi LondonLass how are you ? More awake or still part hibernation . My home area is still on way up from a point that was high anyway so not going out much .If lockdown finishes in two weeks I can see our area being in T3 . Soooo! My plan is
EASTMAS what you think ?
Morning everyone - and thank you for the welcome! I decided at 3:33am to try to sleep - and it worked! I think it was the post-op euphoria (and morphine) keeping me in dance mode rather than sleep! I was randomly picked for a pre-50 mammogram (cancelled at start of lockdown, rebooked for 13 Aug). Never had any issues/check weekly for lumps and bumps - didn’t expect them to find anything, but they did. ER+ HER2- around 10mm, biopsy of lymph node clear. Had marker fitted, then lumpectomy 4 weeks ago. However, the marker appeared to have been misplaced as the surgeon couldn’t find the cancer - he removed two sizeable chunks of tissue to analyse too. But he also removed 6 lymph nodes, the sentinel one containing cancer (5mm). So I then had a CT scan (clear), and a mammogram to find the missing biopsy dot marker - followed by a second op to get it out (yesterday). The surgeon said it was a success, so I’ll take that! Dec 2 I find out what their plans are - apparently I might be suitable for the Optima trial, so I’m reading up around that. I have only ever heard of radiotherapy and tamoxifen in my treatment plan up to now - but of course I’m keeping an open mind due to the lymph node finding.
I feel fine today and in very little pain, so feeling positive. My focus now is on diet and exercise as I have weight to lose. I have PCOS with insulin resistance so weight has slowly increased through the years. I’m a lazy blogger, so know my problem is a lack of exercise. I started walking my 10k steps a day the day of my diagnosis, but I’ve pulled a muscle/ligament (something) at the back of my knee and that has stopped me. I have a telephone appointment with a physio next Wed - hope they can help. Diet-wise I’m a fish-eating vegetarian (pescatarian) - all dairy is organic, all fruit and veg is organic, no processed food, no soy, wholewheat carbs where possible ... I think this is pretty ‘clean’ so I’m happy with this. So it’s exercise and mindset that needs the attention. I reckon I have 9 stone to lose. That bit sounds scary ... just need my knee fixed so that I can get on with it! Oh and I’m 48, married, two kids (14 and 12), two springer spaniels and a cat.
That’s my story! I’m new to this group so still navigating my way through the posts and pages. Any advise on what I should join/read would be appreciated!
Thank you everyone ... so I’m a fruit loop? I’ll take that as an accurate description!

Hi @Ace Trace,and welcome.
you have been through a lot and successfully come out the other side!well done.
as far as the exercise goes...please don’t give it up as it will help you in more ways that one.Could you do passive exercises at home without using the painful leg?maybe ask the physiotherapist for some you can do.They are always very helpful like that.and keep up the exercises they give you to do.It is always a bit tempting to not do them all....speaking from experience!
you say your “mindset”needs attention.Get going on nice hobbies you like as this tends to brighten you up,and give you more “oomph”from my experience.I am not exactly sure which part of your mindset you mean though, but these should help.
try to enroll your children in helping round the house.Sorry,I am only assuming there...they may be very good.It is a good time for them to get involved with that I would say.
also.maybe you could sit on a bench and throw things for your spaniel to get...teach him/her tricks, etc to exercise your upper body at least.
If you are into crafts, you could join “Crafts and BC”you will find it looking back through the thread titles. At the same time you could look back through all the other titles to see what you might like to join in with.
Keep posting too...there is a wealth of help on here!
Have a good day,
Violetsniff xx
Hi and another warm welcome but sorry you’re here!
glad you managed to sleep in the end, anaesthetic drugs have quite a mix these days, there may well have been some steroid in the mix, which combined with others could well have kept you awake!
I've experience with pulled hamstrings (muscles at the back of the knee) and it’s the very devil, but keep going with gentle stretches unless physio tells you not to. In my case it took a good few weeks to improve so don’t abandon the exercise you want, just adapt it so you don’t aggravate the problem.
Keep posting!

Margaret EASTMAS! Love it!
I am still struggling a bit so have to pace myself! But have managed to finish and wrap most of my Christmas gifts! I have my Fruit Loop cards ready to post on the 1st and have even started decorating the house, much to mums disgust! She said we should wait till Dec 1st, which is what I used to say, BUT this year Sod It!!

HAPPY EARLY CHRISTMAS FRUIT LOOPS! xxxxx
If any of you fruit loops are into chess (or even, like me, you aren’t but enjoy 1950’s and 1960’s US fashions, music and art films) I can heartily recommend Netflix’s ‘The Queen’s Gambit’, it had us both glued from the first few minutes! An 8 part serial.

Hello snoweys mum, yes I have got some of this mascara , but no lashes to speak of ! and not going out except supermarket ! Community nurses have been coming to the house for months to redress he rocket drain and PICC line , but now they say I can go to a clinic the other side of town . It was too late to make an appointment Tuesday , so I had to go to the GP surgery , the nurse had never seen a rocket drain , I had to explain to her how to do it . I am now waiting for a call to find out the plans for next week .i have been out for a few ( wet ) walks this week, but am still not coping with the lockdown very well , I try to tell myself there are so many people so much worse off than me , but I find anxiety tends to overwhelm me , which makes me feel pathetic . I read all your posts , love .....me. x
