.
I’ve just been looking at the potato bags on amazon, Northerner do you have to start with any special spuds or can it be any that have been left to sprout? I need to get in on this
Hi HappyFeet1 you can buy potato planting bags from as little as a pound ( bit too fragile ) have a look on line or in gardening shops now when could be reduced . All you do is small level of compost in bottom to cover seed potatoes once green shoots appear cover with more compost . Again As shoots appear thru second layer cover again ..continue this method til bag full ..stalks will continue growing once they have flowered potatoes ready sift thru compost to harvest .whilst growing keep watered but not drowned lol
Nothing beats the taste

I’ve tried a later walk with the dog tonight in the hope it helps me drift off sooner and hopefully stay there but it is very warm so I’m not too hopeful, sweet dreams all and I hope you all get some good quality sleep be it short or long xx
I've done both Santababy you can purchase seed potatoes from most places or use your own I usually put in open egg carton on window ledge to chit ( sprout ) then when they look strong decide which chit you want to grow from ,remove others from the potato so all goodness goes into one chit when you plant . Usually put 3/5 in one bag . Have posted to HappyFeet1 how I plant ...Best time to plant is early spring I usually space out my planting so growth is across summer . Nothing to stop you seeing what comes from planting now . Just be patient seems to take ages for first shoots to appear then wait til leaves have died bag before harvesting have fun xx
Awww, I suspect I will sleep better tonight, I kept dropping off while watching tv!
i’ve decided to wear a long nightie (actually it’s an Egyptian galabeya - no idea how to spell it!) and a fleece rather than even a summer weight duvet! (Hubs and I sleep separately due to his restlessness - hope we will cope in the van!!!)
we go off for 2 nights on Tuesday.....not far.m, about an hours run, it will be a learning curve! By now we would normally have had a good 2-3 separate weeks away, Covid is a pain!
Sleepy fairy dust has been replenished by the fairies (under instruction!) Sleep well and stay safe, all fruit loops

Thanks Northerner will definitely have a try, great instructions and illustrations. And definitely nothing beats the taste of home grown spuds. moomyeven the thought of a fleece makes me hot!! We’re sleeping under an empty duvet cover, then if it gets cool enough a summer duvet later in the night. Tonight feels very muggy so I think I’ll need the fairy dust, thanks! Xx
Potato bags look good!! I'm the least green fingered person every but might try them!
I can't deal with this site on my phone which is what I predominently use online as text far too small and menu systems not the best. I'm on the laptop at the moment and easier to use though I struggle to get to latest post in one go!!! Three dots don't seem to work. I'm finding this upgrade very cumbersome!!
Hope everyone is well and enjoying the heat!!

Good morning....A new week. Where do they go?
A very warm week forecast. Last night was warm, wasn't it? Temps here never dropped below 20°.
I have to go outside soon to water my tomatoes and a few fragile plants. It is still dark. I hate how quickly the days start to draw in once June is passed. We are promised a storm by Wednesday. I hope it brings rain. Our underground tank is nearly empty. It needs some heavy downpours plunging off the guttering to replenish it.
I hope you all have a good day. I know some of you have chemo this week. Not easy weather for chemo....try to drink plenty of cold water. I saw an article which put a hot water bottle filled with water in the freezer but be sure to wrap it, if you are thinking of cuddling that idea. We freeze bottles of water then let them thaw in the kitchen to get very cold water to drink. Just make sure you tip a bit out first so there is an expansion space. It's great for a cold box too if you're shopping and need to get things home cool. Much better than a blue ice pack. We use them for travelling too. Keeps picnic cool but you can drink the water too as it melts. Not that we're going far at the moment. Too busy with people and heat!
Well, chatting won't water the plants. Take care everyone. moomy enjoy your trip.Northernerare you heading back to the van?
Thinking of you all. Can't list everyone now but you're in my thoughts and prayers.
Love Karen
