Snowys Mum - you and many like you are the true heroes of this situation, going in to work despite being scared s*itless about contracting the virus from the people in the settings that you work in but going in anyway even though you've been VERY badly served regarding testing and appropriate PPE supplies by the people that were voted in to run the country not so long ago!
All this 'ramping up' of testing and PPE seems to have taken over the Brexit 'get it done' mantra, but nothing or little seems to be happening! It infuriates me, but not as much as it does you I'm sure!
You can be sure that there are many virtual hugs coming your way - if only they could protect you in the real world! Massive love to you and all other carers, NHS workers and all those in other essential jobs who are keeping this country running whilst the rest of us are trapped indoors twiddling our thumbs waiting for the madness to end!
Thanks everyone. I thought I had deleted that post...I thought it was too much.
Yes they should have stockpiled the correct gear in case of an eventuality like this.
The stuff we have isn't good enough and offers very little protection. An old lady has made me a cover all gown the vicar has given me goggles and my manager is sewing us masks.
I have contacted my MP but I think they are dismayed as well. This waiting for troops to bring us stuff...we need it NOW.
if anyone wants to make us masks please do.
Cannot wait to get home everything will go in wash and me in the shower.
Sending love to all our Fruit Loops......
Quick message before i go to bed. Snowys Mum, so pleased to read your post, more so, sorry for how this all is. I want you to know I am thinking of you and will be glad to know when you have finished your shift..... making sure you wash hands, no touching your face, changing and washing your cloths on high temperature and.... don't forget 'change of foot wear'.
To all our members and their families that are working on the front lines, I sincerely 'Thank You' for all you are doing - totally amazing and courageous - Our Earth Angels
I wonder if there are any certain 'patterns or materials' that would allow anyone capable of making masks to do so
I did see a very basic tip for people with no mask and needing one in a hurry....
2 elastic bands and a length of material (I'm thinking 'microfibre' cloth might be brilliant - but I don't knowing how much filtration).
The length of material will be divided/folded into 3 - this means you have '2' folds - at the point where you have the fold is where the elastic band goes. The material is then folded towards each other - where it meets you interlock it to keep more sturdy. ...
Thats it mask made - use bands to hold over the ears and have the folded piece on the inside of your mouth to hold firm'....
This is 'very, very basic' - but might help in an emergency situation when something is better than nothing.... (trying to find the photos)...
found a you tube clip that is better than the photos....
Please stay safe - extra love and hugs going to Helen xxxxxxx
Photo's in case link doesn't work....
its not letting me add all photos together so, will add the last couple separate.....
Please remember these have no filters added - these is a simple idea for use when nothing else is available. If you do make and wear these you do so at your own choice.
I thought I best add these words 'just to be clear' - this is a simple DIY 'make do mask - better than nothing..... owww and it's not me in the photo
Sending love to all xxxx
Had another job offer this morning. To staff one of the new ‘hot hubs’ where covid-19 pts will be diagnosed and possibly treated in the community by GPs. Also another one helping out with the 111 service. It’s good that they are getting organised, but sad that they are so understaffed. xxx
Onwards and flatwards (don't do hills) and keep walking if you can!
Well Good Morning, I just realised I missed a HUGE milestone! So here it is Better Late than Never......
Wow 24018 posts!
I thought the puzzle was a good choice! In these trying times we all need something to pass the time! I’m currently doing another 1000 piece puzzle! But with another 10wks+ indoors with 2 pensioners maybe I could do with more of a challenge we’d need a bigger table though!!
Keep posting Fruit Loops! Xxxxx
Ok! Ok! I know you cant tell the difference in lockdown .Just thought remind everyone it's the weekend chance to laze around doing nothing ......as if
