  • Morning, all,

thinking of everyone who has treatment/results/scans etc today - and everyone else too!

i has a surprise visitor on his way round to help you all, LP wanted to inspect my breakfast! He did snaffle a blueberry but that’s the least of my worries since our blackbird tries it on daily!

He was wearing his Super-LP cape so it really was just a flying (!) visit and he whisked round and round again (almost a vortex like Superman?) and was off! Hahaha!

    Hugs xxx

    - good luck for the next few days - hope everything goes as well as possible for you and for your daughter. It's amazing the different reactions that people have to different drugs. Saying to a patient that something is a 'mild' or 'kind' chemo, as I've sometimes been told means nothing if you're allergic to it.  I had one dose of Vinorelbine, which most people get on fine with, and it floored me for 6 weeks - I had every side effect possible, and some that were really unusual (like tongue poisoning - yes, really!). They took me off it immediately - it just wasn't the drug for me!

Hugs to everyone who has appointments today - LP will be exhausted when he gets back!

    - have a wonderful time with !

    - I should NOT have joked about unscheduled visits to A&E! On Wednesday night at about midnight, I was trying to find a metal-free bra that I could wear for an MRI scan yesterday morning, and I ran over my big toe with the edge of the drawer under the bed, dislodging the nail right down to the quick! Blood everywhere... I cut the nail as short as possible to stop it catching on bed clothes, mopped it up and dressed it tightly. Knew that I'd have to go to A&E to have the nail removed as I've done it before and the GP wouldn't touch it.

Wasn't going to go in the middle of the night as I was due up at 6:00 am to get to the MRI scan for 07:45 in an unfamiliar town. The NHS had put it out to a private company as the oncologist wanted it done before I see him next on 30th. Got HOPELESSLY lost in the midst of multiple industrial estates, going round and round seeing the same building several times but never managing to find any of the roads on the map (probably one time I should have gone with a SatNav!) Still, they still saw me despite me being late.

Then I went straight to my local A&E, where the nurse (on her own in minors) saw me asap to get me out of the department quick smart! She decided not to take the nail out, but pushed it back in instead - ouch! I'll probably still lose the nail, but she didn't want to pull it out and damage the nail bed any more in case that caused infection. So, have a nicely dressed throbby big toe and yet another medical appointment on Monday to have it checked! Well, what did I want with a free day anyway...

At least it wasn't a cancer based visit this time!!! Joy

  • Off for my radioactive shot shortly. Oh the joy - wonder how many attempts it will take for a cannula today?

Sounds like LP will be needing to snooze on the scanner with me later with all this flying around Joy

Been to GP this morning, amytriptyline now on repeat, and have omezaprole for the heartburn and reflux.

Guess I'd better have another drink and then go fight my way into the hospital carpark!!

    Laters

  • Well, wow!! I warned the radiologist up front about my veins. She went for a bucket of hot water straight off, and found the vein first go. I didn't even feel the prick!!!

Shopping done, home for a bite and some tea, back to hospital shortly.

LP has arrived, he's had some tea, and is chatting with Marmalade.

  • LP didn't make it to the hospital today, . We were just setting off and got a phone call cancelling the appt. The poor doc was ill, and the harassed secretary had no contact details for me (!). She had had to call my GP to get phone numbers. We decided to go out anyway, and LP went to Media City. He got into the BBC building and tried to get in a program, but the security Guinea pig sent him packing. He then had a run around in the Lowry theatre, which was full of newly graduated students from the local uni. No room at restaurants, so went to Morrisons for fish and chips. Always a good standby. Finally went to have a look at the house where I lived as a baby, and had a run around in the local park He will have worked off all those chips he had, and I sent him off on autocape as he was sound asleep. Hope he arrived safely. Xxxx

  • LP has had an exciting day today!!

Not sure whether good or bad, but when the scanner was done, they sent me for another pee, and then did top and side views of my hip. They weren't giving anything away either.

Rob has moved his tools to his new job, and gone for a drink with the old one. I'm hungry, so have started dinner. If he's not back in time he'll have to nuke his. Sausage, mash and onion gravy Yum

Heres to a weekend of rest, and minimal side effects for those in treatment.

    Hugs xx
