  • Well done Jo Jo. I bet you were a mess just before telling him! I'm so glad he responded ok. It's a weight off your mind too as I'm sure you were stewing on what you were going to say.

  • I was very worried and didn't actually say the words. I opened the conversation and then just sat there dumb! My hubby had to take over for me. There were a few tears, but not too many. He was fine and is in a good place at the moment, with a steady girlfriend who is good to him and he likes his job. I just hope this doesn't knock him off balance, as I'll never forgive myself.

None of us wanted to be in this group, but we are glad we're not alone.

Diagnosis 2/8/17 IDC Her2+, 22mm, with spread to several lymph nodes. TCHP chemo started 23/8/17, Mx with immediate, temp recon 24/1/18, rads 20/3 to 10/4/18, Herceptin by IV until Nov 18. RR Mx Jan 23. Still waiting for reconstruction, but opting for simple implants, as opposed to Diep, due to long waiting lists for diep.

  • Thanks Karen, hope you had a good day.

Jo, Well done on sharing with your son, you did the right thing!

Gay, thanks for PM will reply shortly!

There is always something round the corner---next one may be a good one.

It's a battle we need to win. My diagnosis was so odd no one knew about it----I just found someone with my exact problems ,trying to contact her see what she was treated with. It was an American site

Wishing all you lovely Zombies.....whoops, ladies! A lovely day. I hope work goes well for those of you working. I hope those with appointments have good news and their appointments run to time and for those recooperating, have a lovely relaxing day!

I am on my last working day for the Week! Love to all, Sal xxxxx

  • Hi  Are you ok today? Any sleep? Or is that a silly question.

If you've got a spare  minute, could you have a look at this thread. She's a newbie with bone mets and might like a friend. I've replied but would be nice if someone in a similar position could say something too.

Big hug to start your day.

  • Hi Lynn, good to hear from you. I'm okay thanks, well it's been a rough week and I've been struggling, but I am slowly sorting myself out! As for sleep......

    Think that covers it! Xxx

p.s. I replied to the other thread. Xx

  • Can you plan to do something nice this weekend, LL? Mind you it might have to be indoors if the weather down there is anything like it is here at the moment. It is absolutely chucking it down!

I keep thinking it is Friday tomorrow :(

BUT I have had some really good news. My mum has a phone call from nurse and ct scan is clear, no spread. Op is next Tues and I am assuming that she won't find out about chemo or radio till they actually get results from the op. She sees consultant on Friday. I was so relieved I sat crying in Tesco's car park!

Hope everyone has a lovely day tomorrow.

  • That is good news Gay!!

So, Herceptin is on hold. Bloods taken, chest CT ordered. LVEF 50%, apparently not low enough to cause shortness of breath. X-ray clear.

Wondering if it's maybe asthma or something.

2 very busy days then HOLIDAY!!

    Sleep tight xx

    Karen

  • Sal - thanks for doing that. I'm sure she appreciates it (oh and Jo Jo too).

Gay - that's great news about your mum. Do you live near her? Or are you able to get to see her soon?

Karen - I learned my lesson - never ignore breathlessness! Everyone thought mine was a "normal" side effect of chemo. Took respiratory failure and 4 days in a coma to find out otherwise! I'm really glad the docs are taking it seriously but don't let them dismiss it as nothing to worry about. No matter how many tests they do, you need them to find the answer. Asthma sounds like a bit of a brush off TBH. Despite not being in common usage like oncologist or cardiologist, there is a word for lung specialist - pulmonologist. I never heard it used in all the times I saw him/made appointments etc - everyone but everyone called him the lung guy, or lung doctor if they were being respectful.
