    Hi seaspirit

Sorry to hear about DH, having had colon cancer I know how difficult things can be.  At my last colonoscopy I was diagnosed with diverticulitis but, at the moment, it's not giving me too much trouble.

I think our GPs are doing a really good job at the moment.

    Take care,

    VickiLynne x

  • I agree with you ...everything you have said.

I too, have been out of circulation for a bit and hadnt realised myself about .Gosh how sad...

I sat next to her at a get-together. She was very creative and a prolific knitter. Oh my what a wonderful tibute to her that bunting is..and so well deserved recordxxx

  • Hi ...you have had a lot to cope with and I am sorry your hubby has been unwell.

I had to put my Doctors hat on ( even though I am not one) as far as my twin was concernned. He had rung me 3 times from Singapore to ostensibly ask if he can have his operation for his hip ( arthritis) in their time of Lickdown. It has caused me no little concern as he is in pain and forgot to ask for his pain meds when he sasaw his GP. My sister had told him to go ahead with it, which threw me...but each time I have steadfastly said No, but to control the pain with painkillers and get back to his doc for some.

there are several criteria in the equation, not leadt that Singapore seem to be at a fifferent stage to us, and closed the Hospitals to visitors after the second time of adking.

Then he rang again to ask and Ibstill said No, even tho my sister says yes.

goodness it has been hard, he is string minded and hates “ wasting” time.he is a high -acheivement person,( unlike moi)

anyway in the absence of any information from Sing on the News, I still said not to.I said I am erring on the side of caution.

I do have a friend whose husband died from it who’s funeral is this week.So sad xxx

  • Oh wow, Cathy was a star! What a record, bless her!
Seaspirit, so sorry you’ve worries about your hubs, hope it proves to be ok.
Violetsniff, sorry about your brother, but Singapore has a pretty good health system and they are very careful over there (that’s where my eldest nephew lives) and Taiwan too are doing really well (brother in law lives there)

    Hugs xxx

    hi Violetsniff

It is such a dilemma for us all, but I'm with you on this, as your brother's condition is not life threatening.  Just as we were going into lockdown I had a specialist appointment (not cancer related) but cancelled it.  I received a phone call before nine this morning telling me that they are opening up their lists again and did I still want my appointment.  I said "yes" but will think about it again when the appointment comes through.

I know our hospitals are doing all they can to protect us, and with cancer treatment they are being extra careful to keep everyone safe.  Cancer treatment and surgery is a different matter and hopefully services will be back to normal very soon and those who have had their chemo or other treatments stopped will be able to resume as soon as their team think it is safe to do so.

  • Thankyou @VickyLynne and ...very helpful.

VickieLynne I am so pleased that Hospitals are openinhg to cancer patients again, but also very pleased you are thinking carefully about it.

my twin is in Singapore and would be going private over there. I am a but suspicious that his doctor may not have safety as the top of his list of priorities when my brother asks him.. I just don’t know him, so I just don’t know!
(he is also in a very emotionally demanding household.)
that’s just another of the unknowns in the equation!
Each time I ask him about the extent of his pain, his reply alters from 1-7 on a scale of 10!
i wouldn’t like to be a doctor... I would worry myself to death that I had made the wrong decisions! Xxx

  • Thank you , , . As I have had colon cancer as well as BC, I was concerned that things would not be delayed because of Covid, but equally worried about the risk of catching it. I think it important to get an accurate diagnosis because delay is so dangerous. I have however cancelled my Ct scan, colonoscopy snd mammogram due in April. I feel I am relatively stable and the Covid risk is greater. I think you are right to advise against your brothers hip replacement xx

Onwards and flatwards (don't do hills) and keep walking if you can!

  • Another couple of big branches cut from the tree today, and all cut up, we are both pretty achey!

so tonight we’ve been watching Downton Abbey again, just to ensure we sit and rest!

night night fruit loops, sleep well and stay safe

sleepy fairy dust is to hand for all who wish it.......
