have you had your thyroid and b12 checked? B12 should be around 800-1000 and combined with low iron and enlarged red cells can indicate pernicious anaemia. And of course thyroid function affects every cell in the body.
Good luck to all you insomniacs but I am worried that you are all online. The light from screens makes it worse. Grab a book and read rather than go online. Charge phones away from the bedroom.
mistymoley, thanks for the advice but having been like this for a long time now, I promise you I have tried everything! Reading a book, listening to the radio, relaxation, warm drink etc etc nothing makes a difference. Once I am awake I'm awake and it doesn't matter what I do I'll resettle eventually, so I go online until my eyes get tired again and then drop off for another couple of hours!Â

If I don't come on here I lie there thinking and that's much worse
So under normal circumstances I would agree with what you have said, but under these 'not so normal' circumstances it's doesn't really apply, well for me anyway!! But thanks for trying to help

My tablet has a night time function which turns the backlight a reddish colour. It's blue light that wakes us, and red light that tells us it's time to sleep. So a reddish bulb in the bedside light might help?

Hi JM,
Just to say,I was awake at 04:00 ...and often have nights when I can't sleep, but it has got better since I improved my lifestyle with exercise and healthy input...(oral)...but last night I did something a bit rad,I was so hot and tossing and turning, and knew I would be still at it an hour later (I was),so I got up,ran myself a bath, put lighter pj's on,and went back to bed and eventually sailed off to sleep.Better late than never!another thing I have done in the past that is a bit rad is that I have got up,made myself a cuppa, and had a sandwich!that seemed to work eventually too!
I wonder if it's a bit like primal baby thing, where you settle after being cooled down and fed??dont know, but it did work for me...Nytol seem to help me sometimes, too xxx
Hi toxophilite,Thankyou for this idea.I have tried to find it on my settings but cannot.I have an IPad....any ideas ??x

Seeing my onco with scan and blood results in Friday. Sleeping is like hell. I wake up every 15 minutes scared and wondering whether I'm dead or alive. Shrinks have never worked for me before. I find it better to stay awake and  dose off some time during the day.Â
This is the true ordeal of our illness.
Hi Violetsniff I have a Kindle Fire. It is on the top swipe down and called Blue Shade setting. I can tell it what time to revert to night settings.
Here is a link to do similar on iPad :

Thanks JM, I'm not really complaining, you have my sympathy because I do remember what it is like not being able to sleep. Remember sleep deprivation is used as a form of torture. I do hope you find a solution soon. Kind regards Frank
So I'm awake again
hot and sweaty and really fed up! Just one night of uninterrupted sleep is all I'd like, but I'm not sure it's ever going to happen again!!Â
Hope you other ladies are having a better night. Xxxx
