Brain Metastatic Melanoma

Hi

Melanoma spread to my brain in August despite 1 year on Dabrafenib & Trametinib. Previous surgery included wide excision on scalp where original Melanoma was located and neck dissection to remove lymph nodes where it had spread. Gamma Knife September followed by 2 cycles Ipilimumab & Nivolumab. Pretty toxic reaction to second cycle so been on high dose steroids. Almost weaned off now...

Never realised how potent the side effects were...insomnia and sudden fatigue!

Wondered if anyone out there been through this and back able to drive post successful treatment?

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I hope you don't mind me suggesting that you might want to come and join us over in the melanoma forum as you'll find quite a few people there with metastatic melanoma. They may be able to share their experiences of driving with you.

If you'd like to join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
