so my lovely mum aged 63 has 5 x secondary brain mets from lung cancer 16bmonths ago. picked up on mri due to A&E admission due to one sided body weakness
We are struggling for anyone to give a prognosis......shes had 1 course of Gamma knife, now a waiting game for repeat mri in 12 weeks
Any patients out there with similar diagnosis have any stories to tell please she is currently quite well since steroids stopped 9for pressure)
Hi ADELEG and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
That's good to read that your mum is currently feeling well but waiting for a MRI scan to see whether treatment has been successful is always a stressful time.
I don't have the experience you're looking for, as i had a different type of cancer, but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again.
You might also like to join and post in the lung cancer forum as I'm sure you'll find others there who have a similar diagnosis to your mum.
If you'd like to join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
It would be great if you could put something about your mum's diagnosis and treatment to date into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Sorry for your mums diagnosis. My hubby has secondary brain Mets. Had the gamma knife surgery last Friday hoping they got them all! His primary is also lung cancer but don’t know the treatment yet! All this was picked up 4 weeks ago so don’t know the prognosis yet! But he has the cancer in both lungs apparently and one in his neck?!!
I hope your mum pulls through xx
