Hi,

I know that's no real answer to this but I'm feeing so low,  so confused I think it might help to ask. I feel like my body is giving up.  I've had 6 weeks radiotherapy,  chemo and1  cycle of 5 days Temozolomide. I'm currently on a break,  start my next cycle 2 weeks time. I'm finding that, yes, i can and do get out, with my husband, not far but I try and walk for a good half an hour,  longer some days . Short trip to the supermarket  etc but then,  next day,  physically can't manage most things I'm back in the sofa all day.  My nurse says it's the effects of the chemo and it obviously affects people differently.I was hoping to have some quality of life back by now, but I just want to sleep. How can I tell if my body is shutting down or it is the Chemo? Wait and see if guess.  Sorry for the ramble x

  • It's both the chemo and the radio. Every patient I know gets a LOT of fatigue

  • Varies from person to person. I finished all my treatments in May and immedietly went on holiday with no problem, now im away again to prepare for the ski season and im finding myself lazing a out far too much! Goodness knows how I will ski in a couple of months but im determined to do so. Hopefully it will improve for you soon

  • My exhaustion has varied through my treatments.  I well remember that it peaked about two months after radiotherapy. I went for a short walk and found I struggled to put one foot in front of the other.  It got better though.  I got back to being able to walk 5km or so.  Probably a bit less than that now on my latest therapy drugs but I still get out when I can and I force myself to do things around the house a bit, just to keep moving.

Please give yourself time.  Our treatments are amazing, just a few side effects we have to put up with!

  • Hi

no need to ever apologise for rambling - that's what this safe space is here for.

Fatigue is the most common side effect of both radiotherapy and chemo. G only had the 6 weeks of combined  treatment and he was suffering from fatigue for about a month after the last session. Our oncologist warned that if he did the 28 day chemo cycle that the fatigue could be worse as the dose is higher. G opted to decline all treatment after the initial 6 weeks. These drugs impact everyone slightly differently so please don't be too hard on yourself here for feeling so drained. If you feel the fatigue is too much for please speak to your medical team as they are ones best placed to advise you.

For now though, listen to your body and rest if you need to rest.

sending love and light and hugs

    Wee Me xx
