Val is fast asleep now after a very busy and joyful day.
Yesterday at 10:00 am the local Vicar, Mathew came outside our house and blessed Val and me for todays wedding.
Val contacted the Vicar out of the blue, and he was very understanding and patient, he's a really good man.
Mathew was SUPREME with a bellowing voice and heartfelt message, we were so impressed someone would do that in the rain during Covid.
I positioned Vals bed close to the bay window so she could see outside. Mathew came right up to the window and lay his hand on it while he blessed us.
After the blessing I opened the window so Val could talk to Mathew, sod Covid.
She showed him a bible she's had all her life and asked if we all could say the Our Father.
No problem said Mathew, so we all said the traditional version.
Our neighbour told me later that she joined in, as she heard Mathew, who she knows, and knows Vals situation.
Then Val had chats with Mathew, who by this time was soaked to his skin.
After Mathew left Val was ever so thankful and happy and had a great sleep.
I didn't think people like Mathew existed anymore!!!
 Impressed.
  • Val and I were married today.

The wedding went MUCH better than I thought it would.
The 2 registrars were very good.
Everyone in the room were crying!!! (except one of the registrars).
There were 9 in total, plus Joey the greyhound, who slept though it all.
The bestman, Graham who is Valeries brother, is making a video of it, and photos.
    Very happy

  • Thank you Wee Me, stay safe.

One of Valerie's carers told her "I love you very much".

Carers, paid the least, do the best.

    Angels!

  • Valerie, Breast Cancer 6 years ago, double mastectomy, infection.

No follow up until Brain Cancer, no treatment, no help, get on with it.

Oncologist works 2 days a week.

    End of life, abandoned.

    Don't get Cancer in Coventry.

  • can your GP or local hospice not offer some support to you both? Are there McMillan nurses in the area who can step in to help?

  • GP does little for Valerie. Came to give her the Covid jab doesn't even pass on prescriptions for reducing Dexamethasone. Hasn't seen Valerie for the Brain Cancer. Valerie is Bed Bound so doctor would have to come to our home.

Macmillan has known Valerie for 6 years. Apart from attending consultations and listening on the phone (8 till 8 not 2 in the morning when Valerie has panic attacks) they do little, "we don't leave the hospital". Passed us onto the CAB for the attendance allowance.

Very saddened/surprised/disappointed by Valeries health care and the whole system.

  • Valerie didn't wake up today.

I woke her for meds and breakfast.

She went straight back to sleep.

The carers saw she was dry and asleep.

    I have wave of sadness.

    Find a cure.

Thoughts are with you both xx

  • Valerie woke at 6:00 am, said some things I couldn't understand, fell back to sleep.

I woke her again at 11:00 am for meds and breakfast.

She refused her breakfast, I didn't force her.

She has a straight ahead gaze, didn't recognise me or speak.

She then went back to sleep.
