Hi , I'm a 39 year old female . Had a few weeks of bowel change , urgency for number 2 , sometimes loose , sometimes ok .stomach pains when need the toilet but not always , and no pain in stomach after bowel movement. But last week I had extreme pain around anal area when passing a stool , gp suspected internal pile , tried to examine me but was too painful , prescribed me some cream and ordered me to take a FIT test . ( I didn't see blood in my stool) . FIT test came back positive >400 , I've been fast tracked referred for colonoscopy for suspected cancer   I'm terrified . But since then my stool has been fairly normal , I saw a bit of bright red blood yesterday in my stool and when wiping and I had an extreme ripping pain when my stool came out .which burned for a couple of hours after.  Could this be a fissure ? Could that cause such a high FIT reading. Hoping for some reassurance as at the moment I'm thinking the worst .

  • That is amazing . I'm so pleased for you.  Did they say what was causing your symptoms then ?.

Thankyou.  I hope too , still got a little wait so I'm taking each day as it comes and trying to carry on with my work and daily life.

  • They took I think some few biopsies of my colon lining for testing to see if there’s like inflammation or something. To be honest I wasn’t paying full attention I was just so shocked it wasn't cancer. But they said it will take like 2 months to get results as it’s not urgent everything looks good. Yes try and take it easy and I know you’ll be fine. Please update me on your results. I’ll also update you if I hear anything back as to why I was bleeding. Take good care and you’ll be absolutely fine I know it x

  • You've given me hope . Yes keep me updated . And I will update you after I've had mine on 5th September. Take care too x

  • Hi , hope you are well . I had my colonoscopy this afternoon . No cancer was found , no polyps, no inflammation.  Suspected anal fissure which is healed and a few skin tags around anal area ,but no concern with them. Took a few biopsies to check for microscopic colitis ,but he wasn't concerned about anything at all . I was in and out within 1.5 hours , had sedation . I was surprised how quick it all was.  I'm so relieved and feel like I have my life back x

  • That fabulous news  and thanks for the update - I shall tag in a new member who has had a similar fit test result x

  • Hi there how long were you bleeding and did they ever find out where from?

  • Hi Toria, hope you don’t mind the message. What was your fit score? I’ve just been told I’m positive at a score of 26, been having loose stools for months ever since a heavy rectal bleed, pain on my right side too. Been scheduled for a colonoscopy in 3 weeks which doctors are telling me will most likely be polyps. So scared

  • Hi , I don't mind at all, I know how scary it all is , my fit score was greater than 400 , they didn't tell me the exact number just that it was higher than 400 , I had my colonoscopy they found nothing at all , said I was very healthy . Try to relax , the preparation is worse than the procedure in my opinion.  Hope all goes well for you , happy to answer anymore questions you may have . X

  • This makes me feel at ease! So glad your outcome was positive! If you don’t mind me asking did you experience any other symptoms leading upto your fit test? I’ve been having changes in my bowel habits since September but I wouldn’t say I was going more often than I usually would, just a lot more diarrhoea. My right side has been a bit sore too almost like a dull ache when I bend over or lift my little boy. Ct scan I had last week showed nothing so I’m hoping that’s a positive too & given my number was only 26 x
