Hi to all out there! I feel like I have lived on this bloody computer since my Dad got diagnosed 2mths ago! We live in New Zealand, and are trying to get a grip of what is going on and would love to here of positive stories from anyone else going through the same thing!
My Dad has always been a fit and healthy man. He was concerned with a lump he felt in his tummy... after testing we found out this was liver mets from advanced colon cancer! He has been tender in his tummy, but not in pain at all. He started chemo 2 cycles ago, with xeloda tabs and oxaliplatin. I am worried that living in little old New Zealand that my DAD may not be getting the best treatment, that there maybe better things out there! He is a fit man and has a better appetite than he has ever had, so we are hoping all of these factors will make him respond well to the treatment. I would love to hear from you all x

Hi all,
Sorry for the delayed message it took me a while to figure out the new layout
Jash really sorry for your loss im sure your emotions are all over the place at the moment on one hand he's not in any pain anymore which is the hardest thing to see towards the end but the reality that theyre gone always comes as a shock no matter how much time you have to prepare.
hope everyone else is ok. i managed to raise ÂŁ1200 for the edinburgh cancer research trial doing the great north run and it was a year since my dad wednesday just gone and feel more positive that weve done something proactive, also read a book on holiday that helped me a lot, so generally not feeling too bad!
Jules Ill follow your other thread as im in similar situ to you but will keep popping on here too!

Wriggles , I have just put on BBC 2. Is your run the same as the GREAT EDINBURGH RUN!! If so are you in the top four!!!
You have also just helped my son with his homework. " Mum do you know any words that start with a silent letter?" Yes. "WRIGGLES".
Anyway looks a hard run so I am very impressed!
Take care,

Court, I have absolutely no idea what youre talking about!!lol. I did the great north run in newcastle, not the great edinburgh run, and raised money for the edinburgh trial thats on the cancer research 'my projects' website, unfotunately i think i was about the 39,000th person to cross the finish line..not 4th!lol
thanks though! x
Oh its fine I worked it out as the winner of the Edin run had also run the Northern one. I am not a runner so I am not up on the names. They only followed the top four runners!! Bad attempt at humour.
Take care,
Court
