Anyone been prescribed amitriptyline for peripheral neuropathy? I can't seem to shake this off after having 5FU for 30 weeks in 2019. I suspect it might have been aggravated by covid as well, being one of my weak points.
How long do the strange symptoms last, feeling very muzzy the next morning, and the return of the waves of fatigue. I will give it a few days to settle, but not sure I can cope long term with these side affects. Might have to stick with the Pyridoxine. We'll see.
Any suggestions welcome.
Hi Gemmary. I’m on amitriptyline but for a different reason, mine is for anxiety. The first night I took it, when I got up in the morning to go to the bathroom, I was like a ping pong ball bouncing of anything. I was super tired and fuzzy headed. I’ve been on it for a couple of months and that feeling has gone. The doctor wants to put it up to the therapeutic for anxiety, I’m not too sure. I have got off the diazepam while on this. My daughter had it for pain when she had a bout of shingles, she had lasting pain in one side of her face, she said it was the best medication for her symptoms. I know everyone is different, iIt didn’t take long for the symptoms to go. I’m feeling a bit better on this slowly, but when they tried me with setraline I came out in a bad rash. So that’s what I think what’s good for one doesnt work for another. I’m just finding it slightly making a difference. Good luck and sending hugs. X
Nelly1955, I just got the tired and fuzzy head, no ping pong!! Not conducive to work, though I did clear having to go out and drive before I tried it. How long before it settled? Is yours just for anxiety or peripheral neuropathy as well? Just as well there is a good period before schools are back, so it can settle. Can't think of using any machine tools at the moment! Disaster waiting to happen, bad enough with a sewing machine! I will reassess next week. Thanks
I’m on 35 mgs at about 8 at night. It’s an anti depressant and off label for pain on a lower dose. The side effects have worn off for me after about a week. Like I say my daughter took it for pain after shingles and she got on really well on it. I was shocked what I was like on a lower dose but like I say I don’t get them now, I went from 10 mgs to 25 the dr. Wanted to put me up to 50 but I refused so I just went up another 10, I didn’t get the same symptoms. Hope they work for you. X
