MRI scan

Hello there.
I underwent an extended right  hemicolectomy in September 2024 and finished chemo in Feb 25. Stage 3 colon  cancer with 3 lymph nodes invaded.
I have just had my second follow-up  CT scan and they have found a small nodule in the soft tissue in front of the right hip. The nurse has put me in for an MRI to find out more. I was also told the CT scan showed no concerns in the rest of my body.
I'm really scared as I was doing so well.
Has anyone had a similar experience ?
Thank you for any support you could give me.

  • Hi

Just found your post after reading your contribution on another one . Can I ask if it’s a lymph node that has been picked up ? Or an isolated nodule .

Very positive that everything else is going very well scanning wise .  Bowel cancer is incline to have a pattern of spread from what I have read and what you have described is a little unusual but sometimes they have to rule things out more than rule things in . Unfortunately or perhaps fortunately once you have had a cancer diagnosis you get the gold standard of investigations . I used to feel sorry for my mum . She was sent for a few investigations after things were flagged up post scans . Most were nothing but it was a bit of a mental drain and probably common in the unsuspecting public who are not subjected to internal photos .
But it’s better to be safe than sorry . One thing that gave my mum longevity was robust scanning . Everything was picked up when they were mm and quickly dealt with .

The anxiety is horrible for sure .
But hopefully it will be quickly resolved for you and you can put it behind you .

    Take care ,

  • Hi Court

Thank you so much replying. Gosh it really does help to talk on here. I know every case is so different and it’s easy to get caught up in worse case scenarios. The waiting game is awful but just grateful I’m being scanned.
Well done to your mum. Amazing. X

  • Hi Court

just to say I think they said it was a nodule !

  • I think they would have said if it was a lymph node . They are inclined to be quite specific.
Hopefully it’s just some random nodule .

I noticed your lynch comment . One of our previous members has done some great work with the lynch association . It might be worthwhile linking in there too if you have not already . They are pretty hot with info .

    Take care ,
